Again, we established cake is a bad example of "useless" and I do know a few people who use it but your going way off topic with the current discussion.
Please explain how it's a bad example? Because you know a few people who do use it? Great, I know a few people who use shovels! Shovels isn't an actual real ''useless'' item either then. And no, I'm not going off-topic, at all. I'm showing that just because someone thinks something is useless, doesn't mean it is. I think cake is useless, you don't. You think shovels are useless, I don't. It's on topic.
We aren't talking about removing cake, this is shovels, comparing is completely pointless.
It's not, because as I said plenty of times, just because someone thinks something is useless, doesn't mean it is. That's the connection between the cake and shovels and it makes sense, it's on topic. You think cake is useful and you know a couple people who use it. I think shovels are useful and I know a couple of people who use it.'
And the difference is cake is used for food, you shouldn't be doing spleef in a sky wars game.
Why not? Who says so? As I said in my response to you literally wanting to ignore Riley's opinion because you don't think spleef is a part of Skywars (I totally understand if you missed it, I didn't quote it in my original post, I edited it and then quoted it.) The point of Skywars is to, and I quote the description of Skywars,
''Battle other CubeCrafters in the sky. To win all you have to do is be the last player or team standing.'' You need to ''
be the last player standing''. That can be done in the obvious way: fighting people with a sword, or killing them via projectiles. But there is nowhere it says you can't do that by blowing them up, by void trapping them, by trapping them in general
or by spleefing them. You can't kill people using hacks, that's the only rule. Besides that you're free to let your creativity think of plenty of ways to kill people. If you want to simply ask someone if they can jump off the map: you can!
Skywars isn't about killing people with weapons it's about being the last person standing. Even without killing people. Even with spleefing people. Saying that ''spleefing isn't a part of the game'' is just the worst argument ever and it makes me understand what people mean by saying ''I'm losing braincells.''
That's not the purpose of the game.
That's where you're wrong! The purpose of the game is in the description of Skywars: being the last person standing. You can do what however your hearts pleases as long as it doesn't break the rules of not hacking and not camping. You want to kill people by sword? Be their guest! You want to kill people using projectiles? Be their guest! You want to trap people? Be their guest! You can to spleef people? Be. their. guest!
Might I add you can still craft shovels?
Might I add that in both overpowered chests as well as in normal chests (I'm not sure about basic chests) the shovels are enchanted? You might think it doesn't matter but if I recall correctly, in normal chests the
enchanted shovels are stone. A quick test showed that non enchanted stone or wooden shovels don't mine snow instantly. If you want to mine snow instantly you need to get an iron shovel. Now, if we go back to you saying Snowflake can become the only map with shovels, you don't need instantly mine snow. But let me ask you this, why should we craft shovels? Because you can't be bothered to simply... not take the shovel? Or because you think they're useless? I'm sure there are
some people that think pickaxes or axes are useless. ''Who would use an axe to fight? That's just a waste of time! It takes way too long to reload. And who mines wood? Useless!'' Why shouldn't we also craft our own pickaxes then? Because I'm sure that, again, there are a couple of people out there that think axes and pickaxes are useless. It's a game of fighting, there is no reason to need a pickaxe. (There is no reason to debunk pickaxes being useless, again, I don't think they are, but I'm sure some people do think so.) Let's also remove pickaxes and axes. Let's craft them as well! In fact? Let's remove the chests and just make an UHC in the air. Sounds dumb, right? So does crafting shovels. Just simply don't take the shovels if you don't think they're useful..
So removing them from chests is not bad in any way.
You can still craft armor, swords, you can mine wood yourself, you can get your own food: just throw down some hay bales in every map just like Lucky Islands. So removing those items aren't a problem either. Again, sounds dumb, because it is. It'll remove the speed of the game. Removing shovels doesn't have as much impact on the game as removing swords and armor. But it's still a horrible argument to remove shovels. ''You can craft them anyway.''
You don't like shovels? Great, don't pick em up. Some people think they're useful.
And wth are you on about removing food in 1.8 chests??? What is that even have to do with shovels xD
Same story as the cake, food in 1.8 overpowered is useless since you get plenty of gapples. You want to remove shovels because they're 'useless', great, let's remove all thinks that a couple of people think are useless. Food in 1.8 OP, cakes, axes, pickaxes.
"It might have another use" Like what? Killing people with it?
I didn't know a good use for cakes, but according to you people keep them in their hotbar to have a quick bite so they don't need to stop mid fight to eat something like bread. Who knows, maybe someone has a good use for shovels. Apparently the developers thought they were important enough to add to the game. I don't know a better reason then to spleef people in Snowflake: doesn't mean there isn't a food reason.
How can a shovel have another use than breaking blocks or hitting someone with it.
How does an axe have more purpose then breaking blocks and hitting someone with it? Let's remove them as well because they are now also useles...????
Like.. what? Yes shovels can only be used to break blocks and hit someone with it? What's your points? Every tool has just that purpose..
Also what does food in 1.8 etc have to do with the thread? Besides, food does have an utility in op too, for example: if you're missing more than two food bars you can eat a steak, that fills 4 food bars instead of 2, saving time since you don't have to eat two golden apples.
You're teling me you're giving a spot in your hotbar to normal food? In 1.8 overpowered? When you have 1+ stack of gapples? Eating to gapples isn't that much work, and you still have plenty to use for healing.
