A question I have really thought about for a while. Leaderboard players are recently being found to hack and getting banned for it. Since they are on the leaderboard it is likely they have used those hacks to get to where they are, should people who get their first ban have their stats decreased or wiped altogether, I want to discuss and see what everyone thinks because I am torn between them.

I am for it because some leaderboard players have screwed people over to get to where they are and not gotten those wins legitimately meaning they shouldn't have those wins in the first place.

However I am against it as any player that gets false banned could lose stats that they have earned legitimately and have to start again because of a false report.

I voted yes because with Sentinel becoming more advanced micro hackers are being caught more. (These hackers aren’t blatant) I think if Sentinel banned or banned by a moderator for illegal client use, their stats should be saved but wiped from their view. If the player appeals and the appeal is accepted then their stats can stay. But if they don’t appeal then their stats disappear. I think this could stop people from hacking because they value their stats. In my opinion, people that are banned for inappropriate name or camping shouldn’t have their stats wiped. Just people with illegal clients. +1

The issue is that if you do it on first ban, with sentinel bans they can be false which might result in legit players who were unlucky getting their stats wiped. But for moderator bans and any bans which can be proven with 100% certainty they should definitely have their stats wiped. In my opinion for moderator bans the punishment for hacking should be way longer than a month as if you're hacking you obviously would have known the consquences of hacking and deserve any and all punishments you get. This is a step in the right direction in my opinion.

If someone gets banned once and don't repeat their mistake, I don't really see any harm in this to begin with. Because if someone is actually cheating and it is clear, then they will most likely be banned before getting that insane amount of wins. So technically it wouldn't be too bad from that point of view.

Though Sentinel and staff punishments are different. If it is a Sentinel ban, it is hard for us staff members to say if it was a correct punishmnet or not since we didn't witnessed it. Getting banned due to a bug and then having your stats wiped would be very unfair and I don't think anyone would be happy with that.
For a staff ban, as I mentioned above, it being the first time should not cause your stats to be wiped either. It was your first ban and you have a chance to learn from it. I also don't think anyone would be able to get over 50 wins even by using obvious cheats.

And since you're always able to appeal your punishment(s), your punishment got a chance to be undone. Which would change the whole situation.

Though to be fair, this doesn't only apply for leaderboard players, since everyone should be treated the same way and farming wins overall isn't anything I would recommend for anyone. Doesn't matter if they are on a leaderboard or not.

I'm sorry. I completely don't agree with you. When someone get a permanent ban it doesn't mean that he will lose all his stats. Why did you basically think about this idea ?

I agree and disagree. I don't think it should be the 1st time ban due to the fact many of my friends have gotten false bans. (Elivat) But if it is a perm ban then maybe consider it. But I have seen people with perm bans who later got unbanned months later. So tbh Idk how this will work in keeping things fair and banning false hackers. I would leave it and hope sentinel gets better to where they can detect them hacking before they get too many wins, like on leader board.

I didn’t vote since I actually never want someone’s stats wiped for the use of illegal clients. Since if the client are going to grant you every win, they are blatant and you won’t get far. If you don’t want to get caught easily, you’ll probably use 3.2/3.1 reach.
Although this is not fair for other players, it won’t give you an enormous amount of wins. And you’ll still need skill and time to get to a leaderboard.
Don’t get me wrong, you should never hack and you should/will get punished for it! I just don’t think that a stats wipe you be part of that punishment, except with an network ban and win farming (which aren’t illegal clients)
Besides, we would lose 1/4 of the leaderboards ^-^
Hint hint staff: want reports? Watch leaderboard players. I think (at least in Eggwars) 1/4 or 1/5 will have slight reach
