Wall Maria, Shiganshina District,
The towny server, you have factions where you can build whatever you want. However it can and WOULD be destroyed by higher power factions. I thought a towny server would just be a cool survival server where you and your friends could build a little town. This is also like the survival server which cubecraft games used to have but there is no plots, ect.
This idea can be easily done by using the towny plugin.

However I have a few ideas for it.

To build your own town you would have to start off with your own plot of land. Which I would recommend to be 30x30. The first one would obviously be free because this server is just to survive with your friends. But to extend your town you would have to buy more land. This can easily be done by just using the point system for it. Kinda like the survival server with the sponge. I was thinking 200 points for each plot of land. Also to avoid 'OP-ness' there would also be a certain height/depth limit to the plot area.

I was thinking;

Height = 50 Blocks
Depth = 20 Blocks
Length = 30 Blocks
Width = 30 Blocks

Another player can NOT in any way, shape or form, destroy your buildings in the CLAIMED area, only a staff member can or if a player is in your town, so ONLY invite people you trust if you don't want it to get greifed.

Also like the factions server griefing is NOT against the rules! However you cannot greif claimed areas, only unclaimed areas. You can enter somebody's town, you can open door but now chests or anything else. You cannot place/destroy blocks. And PvP is disabled - ONLY INSIDE A CLAIMED AREA!

Player Ranks:

Mayor - Has all control over the town, can buy/remove claimed areas, they can invite/kick people from your town. Can do anything to the town. Also give people set plots (20x20 building space - will explain in detail further on). Can choose rules for the town also.

Prime minister - They can also place/destroy blocks anywhere in your town. They can give people plots, and claim land.

MP - They can build stuff in the selected plots they are created by the Prime minister/mayor. The only benefit of being one is to be able to rank people up to residents only!

Resident - They are the people who live in your city, who make up the population properly, they can only build on their little plot of created by the Mayor/Prime Minister. They can also buy a plot in the town which at the maximum costs 50 points. This is the default starting rank.

Slave - The lowest of the lowest, they are the people who collect the resources to build up the town. They can only mine outside the town, which is the most dangerous part. They must prove they are worthy enough by bringing resources to the town, The Mayor/prime ministers/ MP can rank them up to a resident if they think they are ready. This is kinda like a punishment for doing stuff wrong, if you do something bad in your town you are downgraded to a slave.

Another idea I thought would be really cool.

If a member of staff finds a really cool looking town, they can get it upgraded to a city, this would also get the benefit of other people visiting it. At the spawn hub for the towny server i thought there should be an area/room where people can teleport to different CITIES, the staff member would approve to make a certain town a city, which would then add a sign to the wall where people can teleport and look around, maybe even join it. If the Mayor is online.

Explaining stuff in detail:

Plots - plots is a mini little area where the player (resident +) can buy and build a anything they want there. A mayor and Prime Minister do not need any plots to build, they can build whatever they want, and destroy what ever they want.

- The maximum cost for a plot is 50 points
- Only one person maximum is allowed to build in that plot, you can't invite people to your plot to build.
- maximum plot size is 20x20 blocks

Rules - The mayor can set rules for the town if they want to, for example;

1. No swearing
2. Do not be rude towards anyone
3. no greifing
4. please match the theme of our city - Medieval

This would be good for builders who'd like to show there building skills in survival - even harder

I like the idea :) finally, there is a factions server where I don't have to mine obsidian to make sure it isn't blown up :/

I like this idea a lot. A fun way to build in survival mode without the risk of it getting destroyed by enemies. Hope the idea gets implemented :D

I like the thought of a town coming together and working toward a common goal. That's brilliant. The whole pvp-factions part just ruins it for me. Griefing is stupid. Fighting over land is stupid. PvP is in like 90% of the rest of the server's attractions.

I want a server that's like Animal Crossing, where the citizens work together to fill up the museum, upgrade their houses, build the town new bridges and landmarks, etc. My thought is like a basic survival server, but with a few twists.

  • Players work with instead of against each other. (I'm sorry but I'm just soooo done with all the pvp competition crap.)
  • Players work toward the long-term goal of building and protecting their town from monsters, storms, and other hazards.
  • Each player has a different job or "class", like doctor, scientist, carpenter, chef, etc. that all have their own perks. i.e. wood placed by carpenters is more durable.
  • As the towns become bigger and more complex, different NPC's arrive that all sell various specialty items. i.e. a gunsmith who sells firearms
  • There's special events on holidays like in Animal Crossing. You might get a special tool or potion in the mail or a special NPC may appear in every town.
  • There's a shrine where players sacrifice materials like diamonds, stone, gold, leather, etc. and once enough of something has been given away, the entire town gets some sort of benefit. i.e. after 20,000 gold ingots have been given, all players have their maxhealth increased to 12 hearts instead of 10.
"But tacosbefriends! That's boring! I want to murder people and drink the tears of their loved ones!" I hear you cry out, because apparently you're all living in my closet. Well hear this!
  • At night, incredibly strong monsters come out. Survivability is very low, even with decent armor and weapons. The only place that's relatively safe is the town.
  • There will be a small chance every night of a monster siege on your town. Monsters gain the ability to break blocks, open doors, activate redstone, and more.
  • Some monsters will spawn during the day as well, like spiders, silverfish, and even giants.
  • Zombies will be faster, skeletons will shoot farther, spiders will slow you with webs, and creepers have a small chance to spawn charged.
  • Storms will sometimes be severe enough to cause block damage, so choose your carpenter and stonecutter wisely.
  • Some monsters will only be killable by special turrets your town can build or by certain items. i.e. chainmail mobs take no damage from arrows.
I don't want a survival server where you fight each other as a challenge. I want a survival server where the server IS the challenge.

A few other ideas I had:
  • You take 1 damage every 20 seconds in snowy biomes (taiga, snow forest, etc.) if you're not wearing leather armor or within 10 blocks of a torch/fire/lava.
  • If you spend too long in a snowy biome without proper clothes or warmth, you're given slowness until you exit the biome.
  • You take 1 damage every 20 seconds in hot biomes (desert, disco mountains, etc.) if you're not wearing a cap/helmet.
  • If you spend too long in a hot biome without proper headgear, you're given nausea and blindness randomly until you exit the biome.
  • At night, hot biomes count as cold biomes and you need proper clothes or warmth to avoid damage or death from exposure.
  • Mobs become more difficult underground and have a greater variety. Undead miners, mushroom zombies, ore-monsters, etc.
  • Mining at certain elevations gives a very small chance of unearthing relics, fossils, etc. i.e. digging stone at Y:10 gives a .0001% chance of finding an ancient axe.
  • Buried treasure and items can surface rarely after a storm. Anything from sticks to a bone to a zombie head.
  • Fishing has an even greater variety. Chances to reel in a squid, a zombie, a treasure chest, or to get pulled into the water by a large fish.
  • Items that are otherwise unobtainable (knockback V sword, efficiency X pick, etc.) can be found by the methods listed above.

I've been debating whether keepinventory should be on. I like the idea of permanent upgrades, but I think the shrine in the previous post handles that well.
