It would look a bit too tacky in the list, it's not really necassary.

But why wouldn't they? It's better off if they do, so there will be more detail on why the person got muted.

True, but i think its easier for people to see in friend list.

Then you know why someone isn't online anymore, btw why do you say a friendlist would be long? For example: no one will have 12 friends banned at the same time.

also let's imagine your friend is banned what is more likely they have haven't decided to join the server for a month or they are banned
probably the second 1 however with mutes what is more likely they are AFK/ignoring you or they are muted probably the first 1
