some of you may watch TBNRfrags like i do if you have your probably familiar with Elytra skywars, with some alterations and a different ways of doing things maybe this could be implemented into a new version of eggwars, however because you cant wear a chestplate a permanent weakness effect might be needed
1. With some alterations you could make it so the egg has to be fully mined (like you can in the waiting map lobby) for the egg to actually be broken instead of a one hit KO making the elytra less OP this also prevents early on egg killing and the game ends before it even starts
2. In the skywars version there are rings that you can fly through that give a boost of speed and altitude, these rings have timers for a cooldown which help prevent long chases, to prevent copying this,something else would need to be thought of for this function
3. Because of all this its very easy to die in the void or world border so extreme skill might be needed
4 this also might discourage camping in a way as it lets you fly everywhere making players more confident and its like a very slow enderpearl
5. Islands in this game are only big enough for their use and not very detailed for instance, a diamond gen at center only has a small platform of land while the Aztec map is a huge temple
