He's only stating a fact.So, Searge (one of the devs on mojang) comments about people hating on 1.9 a few mins ago:
This is why i like cubecraft alot, they were brave enough to update to 1.9 not like the others....

An example of the server problem I was talking about. You can see the ping mismatch between my client and what the server says. If I was actually lagging, the ping number on my client would be much higher. The ping spike happened after playing a few matches in the server, which makes it impossible to have a long session without lagging or having to relog.
