Hii
I'm pretty sure a lot of people love Eggwars Private Games, especially the public ones hosted by staff, but they rarely happen anymore. That's understandable, since hosting them is incredibly time consuming. So how can we get more fun PGs, more often, without taking away valuable time from staff?

Give hosts more freedom when hosting PGs!
Basically, the idea is to make it easier for players to host and organize fun PGs without the need of a moderator. Give hosts more settings, more commands and more ways to customize the experience.

1. It would be fun if private games could be made public and appear in a list in-game and on a dedicated channel on Discord allowing players to host their own public private games. I really enjoyed the last time us players got together and made our own private game with +25 players and since the max party size is 20 it required some organization aka 2 parties. Here, the idea of an official private games status comes to be useful (see the thread by Mohd_i7) as it would display the pg code and be easy for others to join.

Personally, I don’t think letting moderators host more PGs is the solution here, as it is way too time consuming and probably unsustainable. Letting players organize things together could instead bring players together and make many people happy.

2. It would be beneficial if the host had similar settings to moderators when it comes to hosting PGs, such as commands like /deathmatch [in x min] or /deathmatch now (this has been mentioned by many people before). This could also automatically show up in chat 10 and 5 minutes before deathmatch, for example “x min until Deathmatch!” or “It’s now Deathmatch! All shops have been disabled and any eggs have been broken.”.

3. I also suggest hosts should have access to all maps, including Wipeout ;). We are in fact paying for the experience so might as well give us some of those good seasonal maps:). Also let everyone vote, including spectators (mentioned in a recent thread by HOTROD.).

4. I also think that if the PG owner chooses the option of random teams that everyone should be put in random teams, regardless whether they joined the PG in a party or not. I know that getting proper random teams was a struggle last time it was PGs hosted by staff as it took a lot of time to make everyone manually press the nether star icon for random teams. There is probably a solution to this.:)

5. Also, a list of commands that can be accessed with /commands private games would be nice if any commands are added.

Later on, it would be fun to see options such as banning specific items from the shop, change speeds on gens and making shop items free if players just wanna practice bridging or do some practice fights with friends in a place other than FFA. Given that PGs is a subscription feature, I think it would pay off to develop it a little further and make some improvements.

Make sure to react to this post and comment what you think

Hi Lyroce, fellow cubecrafters

I like the idea of making Private Games public and letting players organize their own games
This reminds me of the old snipes, players used to organize before pgs existed. A host would announce a map, and players would join at the same time to get a more competitive game, usually with a few random players mixedin
I think public PGs could take this idea much further, especially with the extra customization suggested in this thread.

about deathmatch:
First, I don’t think (/deathmatch now )should exist, since it could easily be used to ruin the game. Deathmatch should have a minimum time, maybe around 25–40 minutes, so players have enough time to actually play before it starts.

The Deathmatch time should also be chosen before the PG starts and then locked. This way, everyone knows what to expect and can plan around it, instead of the host changing it during the game.
When Deathmatch starts, any remaining Eggs could be broken, and every player on a team that still had an Egg could receive a Totem as compensation, similar to how it works in cubeCraft League

I completely agree with giving PG hosts access to all map's including seasonal maps like wipeout

I also really like the idea of having a /commands private games command. It would make it much easier for hosts to see what commands are available, and I think more useful PG commands could also be added in the future.

As a separate idea, I think PGs could really benefit from a proper rules system. Before PGs existed, players used to set their own rules in chat for snipes, such as no E-Gaps, no Diamond Armor, no Strength, etc. With PGs, hosts can still do this, but players can sometimes miss the rules in chat and get kicked without realizing they were breaking them.

Instead, there could be a Settings - Rules - Choose Rules menu where the host can select the rules before the game starts.
For example:
  • If No Strength is enabled, Strength Potions would not be available in the shop.
  • If No Diamond Armor is enabled, Diamond Armor would not be available in the shop.
  • If No E-Gaps is enabled, E-Gaps would not be available either
  • If No Tip Arrows is enabled, they would be removed from the shop
  • If No Sharpness V is enabled, Sharpness 5 would not be available
  • If No Eggmites is enabled eggmite would not be available.
  • If No Rush — 2 minutes is enabled, players would not be able to break Eggs during the first 2 minutes.
I think No Rush is especially useful because some maps have uneven island layoutss , so it gives everyone a fair amount of time to collect resources and prepare before rushing another team.
The rules should be chosen before the game starts and then locked, so the host cannot change them once the game has started. Players should also be informed about the selected rules before the game begins, so everyone knows exactly what rules the pg is using.

this would be much cleaner than relying on everyone reading the rules in chat, and it would prevent a lot of unnecessary misunderstandings between hosts and players
