You mean by bruteforcing?
All that's needed is a delay if you get the password wrong 3 times. Problem solved.

So? Say every 3 times you get it wrong you need to wait a minute. Don't you know how long it's gonna take to bruteforce a decent password like that?

That's why people shouldn't choose common passwords. They know it's easily hackable, so it's their fault when they do get hacked.
Also, there are many common passwords. Even with that method it would take pretty long to crack it. Not to forget if your password isn't on that list it's pretty much invulnerable.

It's also pretty obvious that when someone is trying completely different passwords for 2 hours straight it's probably a bot.
