What?! Normal is too hard. The steak and obsidian are so expensive, not to mention how little efficiency the pickaxes have on them.
Obsidian isn't worth it if you're playing solo and go full offensive. Either way, the enemy will break your egg if you're not at home to defend.
-Carrot: 3 food points, 3.6 saturation per carrot. Food value: 6.6
-Steak/cooked porkchop: 8 food points, 12.8 saturation per steak/cooked porkchop. Food value: 20.8
5 carrots cost the same as 1 steak. 5 carrots = 15 food points, 18 saturation. Food value: 33
As I said, carrots are the best food per cost but not the best food to eat before or during combat because eating time is the same regardless of food. Therefore, carrots are best to eat while out of combat (itraveling or otherwise) and steaks are best for PvP (ensures you regenerate more HP during battle and minimizes the number of times you have to eat in combat).

Normal isn't hard. If I don't have a rank, I can barely play games that are voted for op or hardcore. I think many stones can beat ranked players at normal items.

One trick: don't buy steak only as your food. I buy carrots to complement them. Carrots to eat while out of combat and steak before and during a fight. Carrots have the highest food value per cost with steak coming up next.
