pretty sure gigabit is a download speed. xD gigabits per second.
kilo - mega - giga - tera - peta - exa - zetta - yotta
"bit" - your internet downloads in bits.
when on your computer is called bytes.
Is it a fibre, (btw was is a fibre, is it like Ethernet?) router brand...?

basically.

why does that make a difference?
Isn't fibre like Ethernet, where you need to connect DIRECTLY to the router? This is not really possible for me, because my router is downstairs and I'm upstairs .-. I could move the router if I really needed to, but putting it there makes it fair for the entire house. If it's a router brand we don't have to go through a hassle to move our router, making it more convenient.

Also, could someone give me the link to "Gigabit" with what it is? It's good to know the type of product you are buying so you can buy the right one, rather than something with the same name.

What's fibre then?
did you read my other post? :/
gigabit is a measurement of download speed. up when you seen yours and halos download speed. it was measured in megabits. if I put halos into gigabits it is 0.832 Gigabits per second.
yours is 0.037 gigabits a second. my internet is 150 kilobits per second.

Log in to your router, if it allows you to change your country, change it to Uruguay.

Technical reasoning: Each country has limitations on what bands it can use for WiFi, and because of how the wireless spectrum works, some bands work better then others, but those bands are usually restricted in most countries, since they are/can be used by the Police, or other national services. Uruguay happens to use those well performing bands, since their country has less restrictions, so the manufacturers set their equipment to use the best available band.

This is not-so-legal to do, however it wont get you in prison either, but it will improve your wi-fi range/speed. :)

How about Gigabit?

Proof that I took this, look at the time/date, 10 minutes before this post. :p
So I'm in a hotel right now, and my wifi signal is 1.7 mb/s 0_o how did you get such a great wifi signal? (i.e. Router brand, fibre, Ethernet? ) Any specs would be amazing

How about you don't post anything until you finish reading:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_access#Speed (Linked to the Speed section, but reading the entire article wont hurt you)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiber-optic_communication

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit

This is because, you have very vague knowledge on what you are saying.

When I read these threads for me its like reading people comparing a car to a toaster and trying to find out which one would go faster then a potato.

You could always buy Wi-Fi Range Extenders and place them around your home, or you could even go to as far as getting a Signal to Ethernet Cable Converter. That's what helped me at least in the sense of "poor Wi-fi connection".

I don't know anything about the internet. (hardware and technical)
I dig computer hardware.
If you simply buy a Mac (impossible to be able to) then you get better connection. halo has a Mac bc it's more faster and able to download more stuff to it.@halothe23 Joined my Mac team. ;) and damn that was hard to type on a iPad.
