Make the map more open then?

Unless you want a map that is literally nothing but a flat patch of blocks, people will find a way to camp and hide.

Make it a standalone game

In its heyday, it barely got enough players to start. It would be silly to make it a standalone game. Maybe if we had a PvP version of Mixed Arcade, it could work there. That's actually kind of a neat idea, quickfire PvP games that can be played in a mixed series.

doesn't have to be completely flat. It could be like a (non-CubeCraft) kitpvp map, with small hills (no higher than one block increments at a time) and that, and scenery around the map (which is inaccessible) definitely makes it look nicer.

That might not work because it would have to be a large map. Besides, it would be kinda boring.

why would it have to be large? Would be a lot more fun if it was small, a lot more chaotic and exciting. There could be multiple maps as well to suit everyone's playstyle.
