So hey!
I just came up with another idea, I think we all know the ''generating area'' thing in PVP, I think it's really irritating and I really don't see any point in having this, if there's a valid reason why they should keep this, then please tell me.
My suggesting is basically to remove the generating area thing.

Maybe there aren't PvP maps anymore and because someone wants to duel someone else there needs to be generated one? I don't really mind because it doesn't annoy me or something.

On Some maps you shelter in houses. The generating area is fun with the tnt.

What are you talking about?

By the way, don't really get the point of it too.
Sometimes it's already generated and sometimes not.
I think there's a valid reason why, but I don't know what it is.

The point the the "generating area" is to load in the map, some maps obviously take longer than others because more blocks more time. Removing it wouldn't work, to get the maps loaded in, by generating row by row which takes time.

The reasons why it is made in that way:
  • Saves up space: since it generates the random structure selected (yes, a structure in the void). Saves some disk space.
  • Prevents server from crashing: The duels are sub-servers that, lets be honest, do not have much RAM, doing it in the async mode instead of placing 36171 blocks at the same time prevents the server from crashing.

I'm pretty sure the "generating area" means that the map is being loaded in properly and it takes a bit of time depending on the map size, so you can't really just remove the time it takes for maps to load in properly.

Well I think it has a valid reason, which is, funny enough, "generating the area". That's just what it does. You can't take it away. That's just like removing loading screens or downloading more RAM.

so basically you are saying to just have a void map in duels sometimes
there is a difference why other games don't need to generate area the same way because there is a waiting area which allows for it to generate
but for duels the map doesn't necessarily have time do generate thus this was added

I think that that happens for a reason because it is generating the arena imo

Agree that sometimes it just takes a lot of time, like really a loooot of time but I think it's just necessary because lag or something...

Hope they could remove that but don't think that can happen

Well, yes. it is very annoying, but it has to be there.
Without this, you wouldn't even be playing on an actual map.

Alright, I have all the data for the forum statistics and curiosities thread, it took me multiple days to get it! The current program I'm using has a processing time of almost 23 hours! Had to use two computers to cut it down to 11.5 hours haha
