Forums Staff (PreStaff)

Cubecraft has a rather large forums, as it is a large server, and it has tons of threads. I know it is hard to make decisions on who should be staff for such a large server. I feel a good way to see if staff are ready is to make them forums staff before making them real staff in the server. If the person really wanted to be staff on the server, the forums would be very clean and anyone could see all the reports and people they've helped. This would also promote some people that are shy to come out of their shell and talk to the server through the forums. Also, this makes it so we could hold stuff like debates that can get out of hand easily because we would have forum staff to jump on any flame wars going on.

Suggestion: Forums staff to moderate forums on top of normal staff and to see how much they want to be a staff member.

Advantages: Help in staff decision making process
Bring some players out of their shells/comfort zone
Allow stuff that could get out of hand, such as debates since forums staff should be moderating quicker than regular staff.

Disadvantage:Could potentially make bad decisions, but would be better than if they were already full staff.

Hey, this is why helpers are there. You can't understand the way somebody behaves just by an application. Helpers are basically mod trainees.

This is already the case. At least... partially... When people get helper, they get forum permissions like lock, move etc. In-Game, they only get the kick command and their helper tag, so helper is rather forum-based than server-based.

Our moderators try to be in game and on forums as much as we can. We can only do so much on the forums without something being blown out of proportion -- however when an argument erupts, we try to close it as soon as possible. Helpers are pretty much what you're trying to describe -- someone who is able to lock, and move threads. We try to recruit helpers as much as we can, as long as they meet our criterion.
