I know you must be thinking, another one... but please just read this thread. Today, I will be comparing key aspects of the three controversial updates; 1.9, the new punishment system, and the Private Reports. Green = Good Yellow = Neutral Red = Negative Key Aspect #1: Support from Active Forum Members 1.9: High, most active forum members agreed to the change and wanted to embrace the new features in 1.9. NPS: Minimal, many active forum members did not agree to giving players an easy second chance. PR: Split, some players see it as good while others do not. Key Aspect #2: Who Made Opposition Threads? 1.9: Random Players, they have never been seen on the forums before and made an account just to oppose it. NPS: AFMs, they know about the changes and do not agree with any of them. PR: AFMs, they spark argument and has caused some of the community to turn against the management team. Key Aspect #3: Who Does this Benefit? 1.9: - Staff: It allowed reports to get under control and allowed developers to make cool new updates! - 1.9-Friendly Members: It allowed a major server to have 1.9 PvP, which is not expressed in other large servers. NPS: - Rulebreakers: Gives them an easy 2nd chance, ruining the fun for lots of members. PR: No players Key Aspect #4: Who Does this Hurt? 1.9: - 1.8-Friendly Members - Many of these members went to other servers, or halted playing this server until 1.8 mode was released - Rule breakers- Created a temporary hiatus in all hackers on the server NPS: - Staff, who have had to deal with a vastly increased amount of reports - Members, who have had to deal with a much larger amount of hackers PR: - Staff, who will have to deal with more reports - Members, who can't add more evidence and have to make a new thread. - Rulebreakers, who can't view their evidence. This would cause them to get mad and leave the server, which seems like a good thing but that means people who are sorry would also leave and not appeal. - Commenters, this may seem like a good thing because it's currently against the rules; but as usual they only think what is good for the staff team in the short term. They could have used this to their advantage, if a player commented something correct a staff member could just lock it rather than having to respond. Key Aspect #5: Publicity of the Update 1.9: - Tried to express this in every way NPS: - Tried to hide this, not saying that the new punishment for hacking is a week so the community doesn't get angry, which backfired, as usual. PR: - Doesn't really apply.
