Battlegrounds

Introduction

Alrighty, another suggestion! This one, a little more interesting than my previous ones. Today I’ll be suggesting a pretty popular game at the moment to be added into CubeCraft but changed around a little bit. Battlegrounds is a large scale combat arena where 100 players will spawn into a huge map and battle it out, till there is only one person remaining; the victor. The player count can be lowered to something more practical and easier on the server. 100 players may be too much for a single server to handle. Feel free to make suggestions on this game, it’s a very bare concept at the moment.

Maps

So the actual map, a pretty important part of the actual game. The map should have a lot of terrain and areas to explore, the map would have coverage such as trees and possibly old, abandoned buildings. They’d be pretty small so as nobody camps in them. Buildings would be quite open though. All of them should be accessible. Obviously, there would be a selection of maps but all roughly the same sort of design. The map would be around about 500x500 (obviously this can be changed, just my input on a suitable size).

Events

Something that would be a pretty neat thing to have is events in the game itself. Events would be things like feasts where game participants would be able to collect things that would help them in battles with others. Supply drops that act as refills that happen in only one location, the coordinates would be written in chat and players would have to scramble to get the loot first (if after a certain amount of time nobody has collected the loot, lightning would strike to let players know exactly where the drop is). This would make the game more exciting. Supply drops would be Ender chests with some occasional red sparks. As I mentioned earlier, feasts. A feast is where items would spawn in the centre of the map. 10 minutes before this feast started a warning would show up in chat. A beacon (could be any colour) would spawn in the very centre. The body of the beacon would be hidden amongst the blocks in the middle that could maybe be rocks and once the 10 minutes is up gray smoke (particles) would appear for a small amount of time to announce that the items had spawned. Containers would be spread all over the rocks and around them. The feast would happen once in each game and every container would hold a random item that would be considered either common, rare, ultra rare or mythical. Common and rare can be found anywhere around the map (rare not so much) but ultra rare and mythical can only be obtained at a feast.

Gameplay

Likely one of if not the most important parts of Battlegrounds is the gameplay itself. The map would get smaller as time goes on (maybe the map could crumble slowly at certain times in the game). A lot of the items that would be available in the game would be scattered randomly across the entirety of the map. Some would be hidden in things like furnaces in abandoned homes, others in old machines in some buildings that would act as warehouses. Items could also spawn in crates which would be note blocks. It is also worth mentioning that terrain will be unchangeable. You cannot interact with any blocks except blocks that act as containers with items and doors.

Deployment

How would participants get into the map? I suggest a big plane that can fit 100 people in it is built and people can jump out of the plane and fly down to their desired area. They would fly down with an elytra. Once they hit the ground the elytra would vanish. After the plane got to a certain point they floor of the plane would vanish if players were still on board. They would then be forced to fly out. After all players are on the ground, the plane will vanish like the elytra. Elytras will automatically open so nobody dies to fall damage.

Teams

There would be two gamemodes, team and solo. Teams would be in either 2’s or 3’s. You would still be able to pick a desired area to jump. Your teammate(s) could either follow you or you could split up. The game would run the same but obviously if your entire team survived until the end, everyone would get a reward and a win as you would in solo. If any of your teammates have died, they will still receive a prize if their team wins but just a little less than the surviving members.

Solo would run as team does just without multiple winners.

Dude, I would love to see this on Cubecraft! However, unless the mini-game is a staple of any Minecraft network (PvP, Hungergames, Skywars) I dont see them adding this due to it’s unoriginality.

I’d be all for this, if I weren’t afraid that they wouldn’t incorporate it.

Can I say 100 players is a lot?
If we cant get 100 player lobby in UHC how can this make a difference?

I’m thinking more in the area of 30-40.
Maybe a bit less with a smaller size map? This way there would still be some games being played at the low times?

I would say to lower the playercoynt down to 30-50, because no way 100 players will ever join a single game.

I an quite fond of the idea though. Maybe some minor tweaks, but I can see this being quite fun.

Doesn't mean it can't be done here. Just make it different. I planned this off of my own head. I wasn't aware that there were any other servers that had this.
Even so there are still other problems and things you didn't mention:
- What sort of weapons will there be? PUGB is fun because it has Grenades, Guns and other firearms. Making it only "vanilla" would simply turn this into some kind of big Survival Game.
The problem with adding guns is that Cubecraft will have to create a resource pack. And most of us know that not everyone can run Minecraft on that sweet 120 fps.
- What about the game mechanics?
Things such as limited inventory space which can only be unlocked by using a backpack or when you have too many items in your inventory you get slowed down.
And the thing that bothers me the most.
- What about vehicles?
I haven't seen any server properly make an game that involves vehicles yet. How will Cubecraft prevent lag and at the same time implement vehicles into a 100 player server?
It could be changed to horses but then this would turn into some Medieval styled PUBG.

You only summarized the game a bit. You didn't talk about how any of the of actual big mechanics could get implemented.

what point are you trying to make here

You could have a very small resource pack that would make different horses look like different cars. Wouldn't do too much FPS damage. Guns, can be bows with different enchantments, even other sorts of items like music discs could act as guns. Melee weapons too. As I said, it's a bare concept and I'd really appreciate some suggestions on what to add and maybe what to remove. Now for inventory space it could be a shulker box. Unfortunately you couldn't exactly level the shulker box up itself but maybe just include 2 in one spot to act as level 2 and 3 in one spot to act as level 3? Could work.

As I said previously, the 100 players was more of a limit. As @DankeyDeeds suggested, make it more playable with a 30 player or so cap.

And remember, you're not required to use a resource pack, that's entirely your choice.

Oh and from this video you can see that the game can sense you have a lot of items in your inventory. Maybe when you have quite a full inventory you could get a warning like this and the heavier you get, the slower you get.

This sounds like Hunger games but with more players, and sounds like UHC. With the amount of games I wish players would play, I think more games would just kind of spread the community. It sounds like a cool game, bur sounds too similar to others.

I’m honestly all for this...

I like the ideas so far, love seeing more.
