EDIT:
Also, forgot to add, we should allow links from cubecraft (like reports.cubecraft.net or https://www.cubecraft.net/threads/did-you-know-its-mutable-to-talk-in-chat.181229) to make it easier to tell people how to report, etc
Added it to the poll.

The current chatfilter is just horrible.
Spanish people can't even use their own language properly, unicode is not allowed in chat, users cant be addressed (with tab) because their username contains something that is banned (example: TrumpThatDuck)
You can't even say Mojang in chat for gods sake. The company who currently work on minecraft cannot be mentioned in chat. Not to forget talking about optifine too, because once upon a time many years ago someone talked about free optifine capes. Making conversations is sometimes just unbearable.
Example: "Could you please put a chest right here?"
See anything wrong with this sentence? No, obviously not
Let me make it more clear:
"Could you please put a chest right here?"
Oh no, we must not allow spanish swearing in our chat right?
The worst part is that people who don't know puta is spanish for whore have no idea why they can't say that sentence, and thus making chatting almost unbearable.

My suggestion:
Because the filter is just 100% retared we should remove it.

A lot of people will probably disagree with this so here's an alternative suggestion:
Instead of responding with: "You are not allowed to say this!"
It should say: "You are not allowed to say <word>!".

Also, allow unicode and things like ~ " ë etc.. Let spanish people speak their language. I know it's not allowed to "prevent bypassing the filter", but that's just useless. If someone really wants to say a word he will find a way to bypass it.

Last thing: Allow words when they are in usernames so that people can address them(using tab, without having to spend minutes trying to figure out how to address them without saying their name).
@hyperBravo Your title template is just amazing don't mind me stealing it pls? ok thnks. :)

A chat filter is pretty much solid proof that there's a rule against swearing.
If it were removed, newer players wouldn't believe you when you say that swearing isn't allowed and carry on to get (somewhat) unfairly muted.
And the whole "put a" situation, what's stopping you from using "place"?
If it really starts to get that annoying, consider using /msg or /fmsg as I believe it doesn't have any filter in it.
If that's too inconvenient, use Skype, Teamspeak or Discord.
However I do agree that there are some words that should be removed from the filter, as I don't even know why they're in there.

So if I want to say something to everyone I should just /msg everone in the game? Yeah no.

What if you are playing with random people? You don't have them as friends.

Also apparently 2 people think it's better to mute everyone than to make normal chatting more convenient.

Removing some words from the filter and allowing some special characters would be great but completely removing the filter would turn chat into garbage xD People would be spamming Unicode characters everywhere and there would be constant swearing (even though there already kinda is in full lobbies) Anyway I support characters with accent marks being allowed. If it is abused so much just make over the top chat bypasses an instant mute as they knew they were breaking a rule by bypassing the filter. Also agree that the message should be changed as it is very confusing

You cannot say "creeper incoming". Why? idk :confused1:

In fact, someone with "creeper" in her username couldn't even say her own username in chat. And no, her username is not innapropriate in any way whatsoever.

Also, allow unicode and things like ~ " ë etc.. Let spanish people speak their language. I know it's not allowed to "prevent bypassing the filter", but that's just useless. If someone really wants to say a word he will find a way to bypass it.
让大家都能说他/她的语言。
Laisse tout le monde parle sa langue.

Also, let us put cubecraft urls ("https://x.cubecraft.net/...") in chat.

There will always be someone saying what is allowed to say and what is not.
After that, if the people keep saying words against the rules or spamming, it will be their fault.

Perfect, dude. I like this style (approved). Now we just have to hope TBF doesn't destroy this work of art like he did to mine last week. At least you didn't go into 90% sarcasm like I did. xD

On topic, filter doesn't do much since it's easily bypassed. Filter the bypasses means chat may become unusable. I agree with the alternative and allowing other players to fully use other letters to speak their language.

Got another example you can try out:
"I will go and watch TV." I think somewhere in "watch TV" is where censoring comes into play.

None of the 3 who voted "None (lets mute everyone instead)" has yet explained why, so I currently don't see any reason why allowing good spanish and replacing "You are not allowed to say this!" with "You are not allowed to say <word>!" should not be implemented.
Going to tag some devs

I think it's better to tag admins instead.
