Hi,

So I haven't played CubeCraft in a while, and I don't know about everything, and I could still be considered new around here. So I'm sorry if I'm suggesting something that is already implemented. So anyways, I and maybe some others reading this have encountered other players that speak in a different language. I personally only speak English, and I don't know what some others are saying if they're speaking another language. I'll probably add some examples of players speaking other languages to the thread, but I'm kinda busy right now. So my suggestion is that we implement a system where we select our preferred language. I can select my language as English. Let's s
ay there's another player, and he speaks Spanish. So then he goes to select his language as Spanish, and all text is in Spanish. And if he sends a message in chat using Spanish, I see it in English because I selected my language as English. In other words, it translates all language to your selected language. This also effects menus, labels, nametags, pretty much everything but player names. It doesn't effect player names because player names don't have spaces, so unless you use underscores, it would be hard for the system to tell word for word. Also, I know that translation filters aren't and probably never will be 100% accurate, but it can help. Would you rather see chat messages in poor English, or not understand it at all?

Thanks for reading,
SwagMasterIV

I know, but as far as I know, it doesn't translate anything. I have even relogged with Nederlands selected, and it didn't even effect the menus. And I'm not saying for people to use Google Translate, I'm saying to add a custom filter to the server that auto translates it.

I believe this has already been suggested before. If I'm right, you are suggesting an auto-translator for chat, right? If so, it's a neat and original idea. However, computers aren't capable of making proper translations, meaning that chat would be full of grammatical mistakes, miscommunication, random words and senseless sentences... Again, nice idea but it wouldn't work out at all... :/

When looking at recent update threads, you can see that the gamemode in question 'now has language support', meaning that they are still working on translating the whole network. :)

We've balanced abilities, added language support, and more! Find the full changelogs for game and maps below.

Do you realize how hard a online live translator is to make. Even professors have trouble with things like that.

So first of all, yes, I am suggesting a auto translator for chat, and for menus as well. I don't know if they're still working on the language support, but I relogged with the nederlands language selected, and I couldn't tell any difference. And yes, I know it's going to be a little innacurate, but as I said in the main thread, would you rather see poor english, or another language you don't speak?

I don't think this is possible...
Well it is...
But do you know how much problems it will create?
Like if this is an Auto-Translater it will be something crappy like Google translate because Computers don't know how to translate languages perfectly unless you program them so well... Well you need first a Dictionary and a proffesional speaker of the language...
Anyway
To make such a thing will cost a lot of effort and time also it may provide lag with the continously translating of senteces...
I don't think this is a Good idea as Cubecraft is a english server and it should stay like that....

The translations mainly affect in-game texts. Sentences like "X was killed by Y" would change to "X werd gedood door Y".

I'd honestly rather not understand something than trying to understand something. And that's not because I'm lazy. ;)
I have no problem with people speaking another language and encourage people to learn new languages. Also, you'd be surprised of the amount of times people use abbreviations. For example: Dutch (especially from the Netherlands, no offense) use "me" while the correct spelling is "mijn" or "m'n". A lot of people also use "y" for "why". These grammatical incorrect words would not translate and would stay the way they are; random, as said in my previous reply. ^.^

Conclusion: everyone would have to write correct English, Dutch or Spanish, which no one does, in order to work properly...

An auto translator on the server doesn't work. There are many, many messages that are meant to be funny, and no, an auto translator doesn't have any feelings ;)

As for translations on the server, we are currently translating the languages Dutch and Spanish. As I'm Dutch, I can tell you, translating all the messages from English to Dutch isn't that easy. We work hard to get things done so players can check them out!

As most of our players are Dutch and Spanish we wanted to do them first. Hopefully more languages will join as soon as possible :D
