Since the freebuild release the chat has gone from quite good to horrible. It's filled with spam. But, that's not what I will talk about in this thread, since I already have a thread dedicated to that.

What I'm here to talk about is the effect of the spam.

The people that spam gets a lot of diamonds, you can't hide that fact. But what makes it really bad is that they invade the most popular plot page.

Let me show you this example. This is the #1 user created plot. They probably spent an entire 20 minutes building it.

And this is another plot on the first row

You just can't deny the fact that they are ugly.

How can we let horrible (my opinion) plots like this get to the top? If they would've just spent as long time building as they did spamming, I would be ok with it. But this is a really simple, and imo ugly, build that does not require any real talent at all. I'm not saying this to get to the top myself, no. I don't even have a single public plot yet. But I really hate the fact that it's the spammers that actually gets the diamonds

I have already seen a suggestion (made by @TheJeroen , I think) that suggested that you reset the diamonds of the spammers when they get muted, but imo that's not enough. There was, luckily enough, a limit added of how much you're allowed to advertise, but the main offenders are respecting this rule.

A part suggestion is that you increase the limit to 15 minutes. This would make it harder for the spammers to time their advertisements correctly. The main idea, however, is that you do a diamond reset at the end of this month. I don't think you should do this every month, because that would be unfair for the people that managed to get up there legit. But then you might ask: "Why by then end of this month?". Well, basically that is enough time for most people to finish a good plot, and hopefully enough time to get the spam-filter (that @Mac announced) out there.

A third possible solution can be that if a plot gets enough diamonds to get to the front page, a staff member needs to review it before it can get to the top. This would defiantly be the best way, but it would require the staff to do a tiny bit of extra work.

The top list is supposed to be a place for people to come and look at good plots. Get inspiration. Not to look at ugly plots that have owners who are advertising it for hours upon end...

Diamonds are user given, just because you think a plot doesn't deserve a diamond doesn't mean that other players don't. The featured plots area is for us to manually feature plots that we think are outstanding. The diamonds are 100% community decided.

As for spammers, the next update will include something to help prevent most of that :)

+0,5, since it won't prevent spammers from keeping spamming the chat

EDIT: What @Mac said is totally community decided, like the voted on that poll :P

EDIT2: If diamonds give rewards (such as 25 points), then, it will be extremly neccesary something like this

In the past few days there were more people on freebuild than there will probably be in the future. So it's going to be pretty much impossible for new builds to get more diamonds. I'm not completely sure how diamonds work and I personally haven't played freebuild a lot, but I think it might be a good idea for diamonds to slowly get taken away with time to give new plots a chance to reach the top.

Yes, but the fact is that they are asking for diamonds.

Example:
/PLOT TP HGBF AWESOME PARKOUR DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE A DIAMOND

Believe it or not, but there are people making chat messages worse than this...

You can't deny the fact that the nr 1 user created plot is horrible...

We already have something like this in place, newer diamonds are worth more than older diamonds.

As I said, the next update has something in it to help prevent this. And yes, I personally think the nr1 plot isn't great, but thats an opinion. As I said, diamonds are user choice. Just because you or I think a plot doesn't deserve a diamond doesn't mean that other players don't.

That's not the point I'm trying to make. The thing is that people are tricking players into giving them diamonds.
This is done by setting up a goal. They always increase it by a small amount so people will feel guilty if they don't help.
Here is an example:

I have seen multiple people do this, and most of them sooner or later get to the top diamonds page. But, as I said above, my main suggestion is that you reset the diamonds at the end of the month. As @MagnificentSpam said, there will never be this many people on freebuild again. I think the high player count is "abused". After about two weeks, or at the end of this month, I think there will be enough good plots for the top list to actually be good, if a like reset would be done. Why? Because the good plot owners would probably advertise just as much as the other people. If possible, it could be released a few days earlier, at the release of the updated spam filter. Just this simple fix would improve the top diamonds page a lot...

Mate, mate, mate, mate. They have a idea for this to prevent them all from spamming. If you start saying your plot is public, players will leave a diamond for you too. Also if you want to disable global chat, then you can do that :P

I think there should be a diamond reset. There was a blank plot that got over 100+ diamonds and was on the first row of popular. I think they should reset it and give people time to make new better builds, and then allow people to give diamonds. Great suggestion :)

I think they should stright outta REMOVE diamonds. Somehow people managed to turn them into a competition. It's not how a game works. A game, especially a multiplayer one, is based on SKILL-BASED competitivity, not "Who advertises the most for the most time" competitivity.

You got a point but lets have this scenario.
2 players

player a spent 6 hours on his plot and is not advertising it a lot
player b spent 20 minutes on his plot and advertises it all the time.
in one day 20 players come and visit the plot of player a and 3/4 of them give a diamond so 15 diamonds in total.
Player b gets 200 players in one day and only every 10th gives him a diamond so he has 20 diamond total with a plot that he put much less effort into. I think plots should be rated by amount of diamonds/ amount of players.
If diamonds or being on top of the community plots area means some kind of points reward then this definitly needs to happen.
