< My opinion on camping >

Firstly I'd like to say that I don't "camp" myself except a bit on duels where I like to hide for a bit to get sneaky attack going and you know what that's a 100% legitimate strat.

I've said this before but I'm pretty sure it went unnoticed so here I am with a full on thread.

As already said, in my opinion camping is a 100% legitimate strat that should not get punished. The thing is as long as the game allows it why should it be banned? You are waiting for your opponent to do the first move, simply as that or you are hiding to win the game in skywars and this should not be punishable.
Sure it's lame but it's a strat that everyone can use.

Now listen, I hate camping as much as you do but it's up to the server devs to come up with ideas to prevent it from happening. What's banning gonna do? With all the players this server has it's not gonna do anything. So instead of banning campers, implement new ways of preventing camping which you are doing with the compasses but it obviously needs more work. Also don't add anything to duels. A 1v1 fight that lasts what 3 minutes? I can hide there and do a sneak attack, come on?!

There are worse things going on like Solo Skywars having motr teamd than Team Skywars but hey gotta ban all the campers! peace

I really, Really hate campers too, but, as you said, I also don't see a reason to ban them. Meh, 99.99% of campers are damn easy anyway.

I'm sharing the same opinion. I wouldn't find it fair if people were banned for camping once either. But I think that there is a difference between some campers. I wouldn't consider someone camping if he just sits on his island aim on you with his bow because he wants to win as well and if that's his tactic he should totally do it that way.

But there are some people that make castles of lava and break all the bridges that allow you to come near him or her , and that is what I call camping because there is almost no way to come close to that person without dying and if this happens more than once there should totally be a punishment attached to it in my opinion.

As annoying as it may be, I agree in most instances. If it's a last resort, done to encourage the opposition into leaving as a result of impatience through a stalemate, then camping is an illegitimate strategy that should be discouraged or prevented all-together.

In most instances however, it is done in the spirit of the objective of the game. For example, in Eggwars the over all objective is to be the last player standing, something that is much easier achieved through the survival of your corresponding egg, hence why players would camp to defend it. After all, it'd be completely illogical to just leave it defenceless, right?

Fortunately, the introduction of Shields in 1.9 has made the process of camping slightly less irritating, however I would still like to see it discouraged in the future, preferably in a way that puts the camper at a disadvantage.

You are telling me RIGHT KNOW that you think it's OK to go on top of the middle in magic and camp on top of it by using lava buckets? You have to be kidding me...

changing up the way the game plays when reaching the super late game, its a difficult topic to tackle, my best idea is make the islands they camp on un-campable when getting to the late. turning off generators on eggwars islands, degrading the islands on skywars etc. that video that @Frqlz shared, yeah he camped but he was hardly camping, you could just build up or pearl to him and start fighting, you can never really say someones camping anyway, most cases people claim camping on enemies that are just completely locked down on their base or spot with no way of getting off, its those situations where they refuse to leave that can really cause anger and anyway whats another 5 minutes of building a safe bridge or farming up a pearl. (2nd half was more ranty sorry if its contradictory or something)

I NEVER protect my egg in eggwars. Why?
You'll almost always do better if you dominate mid for resources, and when your gear is so much better protecting your egg just allows other teams to catch up. This is why I don't find any purpose in camping, and last time I checked it's against the rules. On many eggwars and skywars maps, the build cap is over 100 blocks above any real ground.

Depending on what game you are playing, I would have different terms or phrases. If you are shifting and hiding in the bottom of an island in a Skywars game to try to be hidden, then I feel that you are camping. If you are trying to be stealthy and get a surprise attack on your opponent, that's not really camping as you've most likely moved on from your starting place in whatever game you are in. If you are on your island, protecting your egg, I don't find that as camping (too much). Also, with the addition of the player trackers to most gamemodes, it's a little easier to find any hiding players.

I don't feel like any punishments should be too harsh for camping. Though, if the player does it multiple times, however, then I feel that they should get some sort of punishment.

I agree it shouldn't be bannable and it's anoying that's something we all know. Maybe devs can add something but if that doesn't help we can't do anything. So I hope they will remove camping from teir punishment list.

Camping is in my eyes staying on your island and shoot with your bow (bowspam). It just ruined the game for other.

This makes games even longer.

Campers are in my opinion: little children who have nothing to do and then just go camp on minecraft.

While others just want to play a game and NOT play an hour to kill campers

My opinion on this is that, no matter how much you try to adjust a game to prevent it, there will always be players who finds exploits and abuse it. So there is no way to completely prevent it.
