I want to propose a work around to shift camping.

Developing a script that tracks the time a player is shifting (note that shifting means bending, a player could use another key to do this action).
If a player shifts more than 10 seconds(can be more can be less) the player will be given the spectral arrow effect, allowing other players to locate and end his/her petty life.

What are your thoughts on this?

Edit: The 10 seconds thing is just an example, as other users said, the time should be dynamically adjusted per game mode.

Well, I don't think 10 seconds is enough, sometimes one needs to tactfully shift once in a while, or go AFK for 30 seconds. Then what happens? I think, depending on what game, the timescale should be adjusted. Maybe for quakecraft 10-15 seconds is fine, but for EggWars, I was thinking upwards of a minute?

If the amount of time is too extended, a player could easily exploit this with a timer. I could shift for 59 seconds, unshift, and shift again after 2 seconds. If we shorten the time allowed, an exploiter will have a hard time and players will have more probabilities to locate the tag while the camper release the shift key. (Mathematically, the more times the camper un-shifts, the more probable will be to locate him/her) So, this mechanic favors a shorter amount of time.

For example if you're building a bridge in SkyWars 15 seconds is way too short. I should say 1 minute
Again, one minute is too easily exploited. I guess it depends on the map size and other factors, but we need to figure out a way to eliminate or diminish shift camping.

I feel like this is a bad idea. Especially for a game like Eggwars, a target for me is to be able to find a way around my enemies without them spotting me. This requires me to be shifted for an extended period of time. Perhaps if the script picks is up as shifting without moving, then it might be viable, however just being shifted for ten seconds is not good enough.

On games like Skywars I know there are compasses which track players so camping isn't really an issue on them, but I can't remember if eggwars has compasses as well. Can you buy one from the shop?

Yeah, this is the reason I tried to against the idea originally. I agree with his point that, maybe 20-30 seconds of shifting while still will get picked up, but extended shift walking should be fine!

No you can't.

Ahhh, maybe suggest adding a compass to Eggwars would be a better idea then
