So where should i start?

1.9 is coming out real soon

that equals to the death of the pvp community

and that means 80% of all minigames include PVP

i did some research about the new pvp mechanics.

the results are awful.
2 sec cooldown of a succesful hit with ur sword.

blockhitting is no longer a thing
how are u able to switch items in a fast paced battle (because no one likes boring battles that take 50 seconds)

so please. I beg all u developers and the CEO of cubecraft to keep it in 1.8

ps: Pre 1.9 isnt just about bashing ur mouse u have to use many other tactics.

Why is this a problem? I'd prefer most pvpers weren't "amazing at pvp" because they are good at bashing their mouse. Tactics = better for people who are ACTUALLY good at the game.

The cooldown is about 0.1 seconds, when do you ever switch this fast. Nobody can even switch, use an item and re-switch again in 0.1 seconds. Don't be ridiculous.

Block hitting was never supposed to be a thing, it just works. It isn't an implemented feature.

Block hitting was never supposed to be a thing, it just works. It isn't an implemented feature.

The switch delay is 0.1 seconds, this time is irrelevance unless you're just randomly switching item slots. Because nobody on this earth could switch to an item, use it and then switch back in 0.1 seconds. This is why this delay is in place.

Block hitting is NOT an implemented feature, because the block is not supposed to be used like this. Mojang didn't intend for the blocking mechanic to be able to be used at the exact same time as hitting, what part of that do you not understand?

I don't even understand the first paragraph.

They will eventually have to update to 1.9 because all of the plugins will be updating to the latest versions. Also change is good, it might take time to get used to but believe me it's a good thing.

Without expressing all of my opinions for 1.9 (and believe me, I have a lot of them), I will say this:
(PS this is coming from someone who absolutely can't stand 1.9)
Some generally good things for minigames:
- Elytra Wings
- Spectral arrows (will be cool for pvp)
The good thing Mojang added for backwards compatibility:
- generic.attackSpeed attribute so plugins / map makers can choose how long a player should wait between clicks (therefore they can make it 0)
The thing that is gone forever (R.I.P.):
- Blocking with a sword
The 'what... y???' thing Mojang added:
- Saturation points give you a regen like affect on your health -- why?????
- Can't craft OP golden apples / Notch apples anymore - why?????

You take damage when hitting with a hoe - why?????

I like 1.9 on the whole although the attack cool down may slow down PvP too much.
I have never PvPed on 1.9, only played SMP.
Just to dispel some myths from OP:
* Attack cooldown for a sword is 0.6 seconds. This is only just linger than the invulnerability hit timer of 0.5 seconds. Thus encourages well timed hits rather than click spam.
* Block hitting which was a bug has been replaced by shields which halve melee damage, negate arrow damage, and reduce knockback.

Ever used a fishing rod? I can easily switch 5 times per second and use my fishing rod on EU servers. I'm slow doing this,.some people can do this way faster.1.9 just completely removes the use of a fishing rod in pvp unless you're not using a shield in your off-hand.





Try 1.9 before form an opinion. I experienced 1.9 as gapple pvp, you hit someone, he regens his health completely before you hit him again due to the saturation = regen system.1.9 could've been good if they only removed spam clicking and didn't let you wait a sec per hit. You weren't able to hit more than 4 times or so per second in 1.8,if they changed the full hit delay to 0.25 I would've liked it.

Bro I know pvp 1.9 sucks but you can still spamclick people off the map! And spamclick just does the half of the damage of a full hit. So yeah notch can still be killed....

True bro and the pvp thing isn't that bad you can still spamclick with your sword!

Hitting people off the island doesnt really work in sg, does it? But yeah.. some people want to have ping be even more important I suppose.. Lets just hope minecraft 1.9 doesn't come out for another year.. although they announced it will be released Monday.. hype..

Yep but spamclicking does damage not a lot but it does and the cooldown is really low now you should try prerelease 3
