Hello, Cali here aka technology noob which is why I am creating this thread.

Am getting a Macbook soon, and just wanted to know in terms of specs, reliability, speed, etc, which is better, Macbook Air or Pro? If it helps, I need it for schooling & also want one that is fairly fast.

If you could list the reasons, pros & cons, etc that would be loads helpful. I know we have some tech-savvy community members here :)

MacBook Air is meant to be light, and not very powerful. It is great if you are looking for school work and casual gaming (EG online), but it will (should) work with more demanding games like Minecraft, although you may run into heating issues.

MacBook Pro is meant to do anything you can't with the Air, in terms of power it is a beast, but as a drawback its size and weight are much more.

You are comparing a Mini to a Ferrari, its your choice to look what your budget allows for.

I dunno what your school is like, but most schools pretty much laugh at you if you have a Mac. I can't think of a single professor I've had who went out of his/her way to make a document or assignment accessible to Mac if it wasn't already. I have a Dell that runs Windows 7. Works good enough for games, has Microsoft Office, pretty much whatever else you'd need for classes. If you're sure about getting a mac, I'd recommend MacBook Pro. I can't speak from experience, but I've heard nothing but bad stuff about MacBook Air. Good luck with classes!

@caliocean, you should get a MacBook Pro, for that there are 2 kinds of them. I have a Pro, works smoothly, having some problems sometimes, but you can fix it easily. There is a MacBook Pro that is a 13 - Inch MacBook. There is also a MacBook Pro that is 15 - Inches. The 13 inch costs, $1299 dollars. The 15 inch costs, $1999 dollars. So you would get the tinest MacBooks. - hope this helped! Good Luck with your new MacBook Pro or MacBook Air soon!
