Purple instead of blue xD? Anyways I understood what you were trying to say. I just changed it, hope it looks better now! Thanks for your suggestion :D

It's a fascinating design. And might really have taken some years to perfect it. The red disc represents a rising sun. In Japanese the flag has the name "hinomaru" which means circle of the sun. Since Japan lays at west of the sea the sun rises over the sea, giving a vague representation of the flag. This is also why Japan is called the land of the rising sun.
