water bug/glitch

Hi, after a long break, i've been playing skyblock here again, and because of a quest where i need string for wool, i wanted to make a spider farm. After making some adjustment to it, i wanted to place the water, but while placing the water, the things in the pictures happened, and i dont think thats how water is supposed to flow. I tried placing blocks next to it, but it didnt work, and i have also tried putting the water a block higher, but then it still acts weird. I'm guessing this is a glitch or a bug

It almost looks like the game thinks there is a cube there. Maybe try putting a dirt block there and then remove it?

Also, there is a special place for reporting bugs.

Yeah water is sometimes kind of weird, ever since 1.13 it flows to the nearest place it can flow down vertically (if that makes sense), so try to place more water or place a block on the water stream to force the water to encircle it.

the water flows to the edge then along the edge, place and pick up water in the middle of the square and it might fix it

You’d want to make the corner layer a triangle instead of the square. Possibly using (if looked at from the same direction as the second picture) back side 4 blocks wide, 2nd to last 3, 2nd 2 blocks wide and first row only one block. Making a triangle with the 90° being the corner of your farm.
