I spoke to the staff team about something similar and the consensus was that something like this is more performative and may result in future controversy. Like if you change the flags for pride month would you have to change them for every human rights issue? I believe donating profits to organizations would be better than changing the flag colors, but I like the creativity in the idea! Hope you understand my reasoning for disagreeing :)
How does this make sense?
Pride month/gay pride = the promotion of the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people as a social group.
BLM = a decentralized political and social movement
anti-semitism = hostility to or prejudice against Jewish people
Don't get me wrong, I'm completely for pride month and BLM and against anti-semitism, but pride month is so different from these other two! Pride month is a short amount of time in which we commemorate the stonewall riots, BLM is a political view that (sadly) some people still oppose. There is no such thing as 'BLM month' because it is a protest rather than a commemoration or celebration.
Edit: I still disagree with having some form of 'pride feature' but that's for other reasons. To me, it feels really preachy and insincere when a company, any company, promotes stuff like this. To me it always just feels like the companies that do this are doing it to try to gain attention and are using pride month to make more money.
