Amazing job. I’m so happy to see you actually listened to the community and went along with this massive project and finally finished it! <3

Now, I’m gonna go on a bit of a rant because I see people complaining and I feel there is no real reason to. I’ve done this before but here we go again I guess xD

1. People upset about platform based matchmaking. When I was following the original thread about platform based matchmaking. The only people against it were coincidentally PC players. Like Insane Orbitzz said:

2. “OmG neW knOckBack GroSs I’m GonNa QuiT!!!1!”. Ok please, take a moment to breathe. A bug fix is not the end of the world. Now, I completely understand that some people don’t like change - they like to stick with what they know. I completely respect that but for something like this, you need to give it a chance. Please, I beg, take the time to learn the new knockback - watch combo tutorials, test it with a friend in duels, try and actually learn it. Once you have mastered it and completely understand how it works, THEN I will allow you to come back and complain. For now though, stop fighting it please and give it a chance. Thank you.
the thing is most of us have given it a chance, i won like 2 games by running to mid standing still and clicking as fast as i could, no skill required. this type of pvp just doesnt work on consoles either, unless you want to bind attack to a face button. in the last paragraph you insinuate that this type of pvp is more complex than percieved, but it doesn't have the subtle tricks java has (despite java pvp being pretty menial anyway) and it doesnt have the complexities necesarry for people who play on anything thats not a keyboard and mouse (exept vr players, those dudes are having the time of their lives rn). You clearly seem to have some sort of influence in the cubecraft community out of game, so why dismiss everyone going out of their way to protest this as a noob or inexperienced at pvp. the majority of players with the integrity to protest something of this magnitude have played the game enough to at least have a basic understanding of the old cubecraft pvp complexities, and i imagine at least has a basic understanding of java pvp (as it's the closest thing to the new update). I understand the subtle RNG of the old pvp is frustrating, but why lower the skill ceiling and change the combat mechanics so drastically instead of making subtle tweaks to nullify or remove elements of randomness. its just such a shame to see this server fall like this, although i would significantly prefer a complete reversal of the change, i really do advocate for the developers to put in some sort of compromise to make both parties happy. thank you for hearing me out, and i wish the devs luck in finding a sutiable resolution soon.

Hey Bedrock CubeCrafters!

Today is the day where our Bedrock platform gets improved drastically! 🙌 We've gathered so much feedback over the last month regarding our new knockback and platform-specific games, and are finally unveiling it all today! Read on to find out more...

⚔️ New Knockback!

After a month of testing our new knockback with two different versions, we feel like it's ready for global release. With this release, we've opted for a marginally different configuration - mixing the first and second version. So, you may feel a slightly different knockback from how it was before:
- Increased vertical knockback very slightly.
- Decreased horizontal knockback very slightly.

Before:

Is he stuck on the ground?

After:

Silky smooth combos. Sorry @Camezonda !

We're super proud with how the knockback has turned out - from a small idea mentioned in our Bedrock community talk, to a fully-fledged test gamemode on our network, to now releasing on our network, it's been wonderful to gather all your feedback and make changes! We hope you enjoy the new knockback - we understand it may be different from our old knockback where it was relatively low, but we're definitely excited to unveil this to our entire network! 🎉

🎮 Platform-Specific Games!

Over the last couple of weeks, we silently rolled out platform-specific queues to our knockback testing mode, and the results have been quite interesting! We've seen a drastic increase in players in the mode, which we're suspecting to be because it's been a more enjoyable experience for all platforms. We're happy to announce that this dynamic system will be implemented on all of the modes!

I understand that there may be some concerns, most of which we have addressed in our feedback thread, but we shall reiterate this here:
  • How does it work?
Our systems are able to know what input device you are using - which will assign you to three different queues: mobile, controller & keyboard/mouse, and put you to separate games.
  • Doesn't this make queue times really long?
We do expect queue times to be longer - this is expected when we split games based off of platforms. However, our system is able to monitor the number of players joining with a specific input device. If this gets too low, we begin to merge groups together with the controller queue. This allows for our queue times to be how they normally are - short and snappy!
  • Am I still able to party and play games with my friends on different platforms?
Absolutely! We'll simply match you to the correct server based off of who is in the party with what input device is being used. We don't want to tell you much more than that to avoid exploiting. 😛
  • My games are more difficult now!
This is to be expected - we understand games will be more challenging as you're not going to be matched with players who are on a "worse" platform. However, if a mobile user were to join a game with any controller or keyboard/mouse player, they have a massively low chance on winning. We wanted to make the games more competitive and challenging for keyboard/mouse players, while making it a lot more enjoyable for controller and mobile players.
  • This is going to kill the game - no one wanted this, and I really dislike it.
We've seen a massive increase in players when silently implementing the platform-specific games and new knockback configurations. From peaks of 450 consistently, to almost doubling it at 863 players, it's apparent that these features, together, are working very well. Especially since the knockback testing mode was just for testing, no statistics, no leaderboard, no real incentive to play more than 10 games, players kept playing. The red line is when we released platform-specific games.

View attachment 184720

  • Why not make this a setting? So either I queue with my platform, or everyone.
Quoting a response from @Younisco responding to a community member who suggested something similar:

If there are any more concerns regarding platform-specific games, we'd love to address them. But these seem to be the major ones. 😄

🏃‍♂️ New Entity System!

Finally, we've optimised and revamped how entities are handled on our server! Though most of the optimisations may not be seen by a player, something that's guaranteed to be seen by a player is how smooth player movement is now!

Our previous movement was... not fun to look at. Staring at a player running around in a lobby would be visually unpleasant with how choppy it would be. This is now an issue in the past - players are as smooth as ever! 🎉

Before:

Quite choppy...

After:

IT'S SO SMOOTH

This entire update has so many features that have been asked for for a long time from our Bedrock playerbase. Here's a few examples:

Thanks everyone for reading this thread! We hope you enjoy these massive Bedrock changes - they're definitely a step in the right direction for making our server as polished as possible! 🙌

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, have fun, and stay safe 💙
Also I don’t understand why you won’t make an option.I’ve been having waayyy to easy games and getting epic combos with out even trying.

Stream snipe me are ruined now because now only PCs can do it.Theres lots of streamers that allow this but now only PCs lol.So oh yeah let’s kill of fast growing streamers great idea great. Now they have to resort to party glitches which if you patch stream sniping will be completely and utterly destroyed.

I know this wouldn’t happen because of course cubecraft wouldn’t listen to me but I’ll like to have an option or skill based matchmaking. So that all the noobs would be satisfied and snipers would thank you.Why not add an option it will make everyone happy instead of one group being happy and another being sad.Just add an option please.

So those are my opinions and I know cubecraft doesn’t care about it they actually don’t give anything about what I think but I think there should be an option and it says go into settings to turn off input match making.

Because this is how PvP is supposed to be. Every single other Bedrock server has this PvP. The devs literally worked hours and months fixing it and now the old disgusting knockback is finally gone. I don’t think there is a better “compromise” than this. If you are so keen towards vanilla kB I’m sorry to tell you that Vanilla kB is not the same as PvP kB. I’ve asked in a community post people’s opinions on the knockback and out of 250+ comments, so far not a single one against knockback has persuaded me.

It does require more skill. You said in the beginning you won by simply clicking fast. I disagree. There are other factors included in this PvP system. You see, it’s not that the knockback is “so easy”, it’s that no one knows how to use it yet. I guarantee you if a Hive player comes to you and all you do is “click fast” you won’t win. Just wait until the rest of the players figure out how to use the knockback or players from other servers come flooding in. Your “it’s so easy” argument won’t stand.

My respect for the devs is huge, but this kb really isn't what we asked for at all. I had absolutely no problem with the old knockback, other than the fact that it was a bit randomized at times. and before you quote this post, yes I know that the new kb is less randomized. but they added combos, removed sprint reset, and removed crits. You completely changed it.

If I wanted to play with combos, I could've gone to Hive or Nethergames or a number of other servers. But I chose Cubecraft because of its almost vanilla pvp. When I heard you were fixing the kb, I was really happy at first, until I learned that that meant you were completely redoing it.

I'd really appreciate it if you simply fixed the old kb, rather than making a brand new one.
I agree with you 100% the devs have done good work and I respect them but it's the same as hive. It's almost like it gave w tapping to everyone and once you are in a combo there isn't much you can do to get out of it. Before I would've loved a good trading back and forth fight, but now it's totally one sided whoever is comboing has a HUGE advantage, and unless you 100% know what you are doing the only option is to turn tail and run or your dead. There was no problem with the last kb system that's why me and my friends liked it so much you could almost practice on your own survival world. Now I can't stand playing with the new kb system for more than 15 minutes after trying so hard to relearn everything. It's atrocious, I think the only good thing to come out of this new and "amazing" update is the fact that it groups all the device's inputs and makes it more fair. I would too, appreciate the last KB system.

it seems that the kb is still randomized even now because its more based on ping, and this new update has caused a bunch of lag. I've been playing and found that some players till take very little knockback, while I take the correct amount, so to me the issue hasn't been fixed, and I still agree that the almost-vanilla combat system was why I enjoyed this server. also, it is a possibility that there has been a large increase in players lately due to the fact that there is an update itself, not necessarily that everyone likes the update.

im going to respond to specific quotations (with context) for ease of reading although i will gloss over the majority of comments with no little or no relevance to the subject at hand:

"Because this is how PvP is supposed to be. Every single other Bedrock server has this PvP" - yes and all of them get significantly less player numbers (as shown here), hive only gets player numbers bigger than cubecraft because its main appeal, being minigames is an incredibly wide demogaphic for minecraft players. it shouldnt be news that the reason cubecraft gets such good player numbers is because of the focus on pvp, removing the skill aspect from nearly all pvp makes it no different from inpvp or nethergames.

"I don’t think there is a better “compromise” than this" - this is not a compromise, im not sure you know what the word compromise means so i've linked a definition here. why you put it in quotations is beyond me.

"I’ve asked in a community post people’s opinions on the knockback and out of 250+ comments, so far not a single one against knockback has persuaded me" - (for context I could not find the community post referenced) im not very sure what you mean by this, but you insinuate that the community post made had over 250 comments arguing for the old knockback? shouldn't it be even more incentive for the devs to reverse the knockback to its old state, seeing as (allegedly) over 250 people have gone out of their way to protest this change? I'd like to add that im not trying to persuade you to hate the new combat system, thats your opinion and i cant change that, thats why this is an argument in the first place.

"It does require more skill. You said in the beginning you won by simply clicking fast. I disagree. There are other factors included in this PvP system" - could you elaborate on these claims, i can go and test this at literally any time. and im certainly not seeing any of these other factors while playing.

"Just wait until the rest of the players figure out how to use the knockback or players from other servers come flooding in. Your “it’s so easy” argument won’t stand" - (i glossed over the hive comment as it's irrelivant with the context ahead) im not saying that it's easy at all, im saying that all it takes to win is to activate your inner parkinsons to get 40 clicks per second and to hit them before they hit you. what im saying is that it no longer requires you to be good at strategising, or have a good concept of the games mechanics to win, its boring and no longer fun.

i go significantly more in depth in this document here, as i didnt want to make this post any longer than it already is. I've left comments on in the document as well to make it easier to communicate.

If you really think the knockback is what makes servers die you are very wrong. Let’s go through the featured servers and see why they suck. Mineplex: broken in general and not maintained, Galaxite: its bland. Lifeboat: mini games lack reason to come back. InPvP: is a literal money grab pay to win server. Finally that leaves Cubecraft and Hive. Hive is #1 because of how well maintained and interesting the games are. Cubecraft has very well maintained and unique games. Before I go off track too much, what I’m saying is knockback being actually good, doesn’t make a server die. I have no clue where you got that argument from. But clearly you need to rethink what you just tried to say. “Fixed knockback = dead server” O_o
"I don’t think there is a better “compromise” than this" - this is not a compromise, im not sure you know what the word compromise means so i've linked a definition here. why you put it in quotations is beyond me.
Nice, it’s good to see you’ve resorted to insulting me because you’ve ran out of good arguments (If there were any to begin with). I put compromise in quotations because to think there is a better “compromise” than this is an absolute joke. I don’t know what kind of broken pvp you’re looking for, but good luck finding it.
I cannot include a link to the community post because I am on mobile right now but check my YouTube channel “Team Termite” and go to the community tab. First I’d like to mention that I made a poll which said “do you like the new knockback yes or no”. With 840 votes, 83% said they liked the knockback and 17% said they did not. I’ll admit I did over exaggerate having 250+ comments against the knockback. There is currently 309 comments and I’m sure at least 80 of them are from people who dislike the knockback. As mentioned before though, not one of those comments had a valid argument.
"It does require more skill. You said in the beginning you won by simply clicking fast. I disagree. There are other factors included in this PvP system" - could you elaborate on these claims, i can go and test this at literally any time. and im certainly not seeing any of these other factors while playing.
Ok. So you think Hive PvP requires no skill either? And I guess neither does 1.8.9 right? Because now the knockback is very similar between those two. How about, you play a few games of Hive and Hypixel and tell me it requires “no skill”.

As I’ve mentioned many times before. It’s NOT the knockback that takes no skill, it’s the players you are fighting. You go up against a Hive or Hypixel sweat on this new fixed knockback, I guarantee you clicking fast won’t make the cut. I will gladly call up my friend from Hypixel who is on the sumo leaderboards to show you clicking won’t simply get you a win.

edit: lol this kb literally is as inconsistent as the old kb
I totally agree, in addition to the fact that the fights are not fair, players who were already pro, now are almost impossible to beat because they throw you into the void more easily. 4vs1 are almost impossible. Old KB was fine :c

100s of hours played since last year, almost exclusively egg wars.

New KB is not fun (both as perp and victim). Too many lucky hits throwing players into the void, making equipment, food stock, differences less relevant.

Also breaking blocks seems rather broken (they keep reappearing) but I'll report that in bug reports.

You basically ruined the entire point of bedrock now.
You can’t participate in stream snipe me’s without party glitching yes a glitch people are resorting to because of this remove it these stream snipe me’s will be no more.

AN OPTION
It will go like This when I log on it says would you like to play with everyone or just your platform because to be honest the current system is bs.Also if you really want to make everyone happy just make an option it will make both sides happy but of course not why would I even ask if they don’t take a **** about what I think of course they don’t.

IN CONCLUSION,
I think there should be an option for platform specific games anyway bye.I know my opinion doesn’t matter about this.

You know. I agree. I never asked for a new kb system. When they said they are fixing it I thought they meant: "We're gonna make the kb less more randomized and even more like java 1.9" not "Alright let's redo this knockback".

I love this knockback but I know they can do better. I know they could have fixed it instead of redo it and I know they listen to the community, but honestly, I didn't know they would release it so soon and I don't think we're ever getting that old kb
