How to make animal farms?

How do you make a semi-automatic cow farm? I tried making one but couldn't get the cows to spawn in water/air. I would love to not have to kill the cows myself, rather they die from fall damage.

Using spawners is way more efficient.I recommend you saving for those, instead of making normal farms.Im not fully sure if its possible in this Skyblock or not.

Almost impossible without lava or redstone but maybe drown them?

I designed a super simple and moderately efficient farm, in case you want to know about it :P

I got my cows, sheep and pigs spawning in water and are being killed with cactus. (Still not sure if this is efficient but it works)
