Well in truth, it's unfair how they can keep dying and having their invulnerability while you try to get their egg. I mean, I like the idea of if they attack, their invulnerability wears off.

Look like you have a small problem here.
Eggwars is as @Mac says, rubik_cube_man's little baby and we all highly doubt he will add a spawn timer cause it will be just annoying since you cant try to save your egg. Here is a tip how you can break the eggs better:

- Buy some sandstone blocks and block yourself in.
- If they have the pickaxe kit, make sure to buy some obsidian so they cant get through before you have broken the egg.
