Do shields work normally

I know usually you can crouch, then the shield activates and move higher up on the screen. It doesn't do this in skyblock for whatever reason. anyone know how to fix it?

No I think they just don’t if u r talking about bedrock then I craft them in skywars some times and they don’t work I think the reason is that they aren’t to the village and pillage update so umm they are using some other kind of thing to enable shield but they don’t work. You can talk to @Redned he knows more about it
