Earlier today rubik put out the Bedwars update announcement and it stated the addition of Skill Based Matchmaking. I would like to put out my opinion that adding skill based Matchmaking to CubeCraft in general is a terrible idea!

As we know SBMM (Skill Based Matchmaking) will divide the players into categories of skill which can be problematic as skill gaps range and can cause problems for finding a game with people at your level. But the reason for my dissaproval is the SBMM is never accurate. Taking for example Call of Duty. The SBMM is having average players that work 9-5 play against people who haven't slept for 3 days and are in the top of the top if the average player got one good game. This is my concern for CubeCraft adding it, you're normal players, when they win one game will possibly end up losing the next 5-10 matches because they had one good game.

That is my reason.

Agreed. SBMM is going to hurt the server more than help it. It basically turned normal queues into ranked queues. Like what you said, playing well will make your future matches much more difficult. Input based matchmaking is fine as it is. SBMM is likely going to funnel high CPS sweats in your matches if you're good at the game and make it a nightmare to play, and I can't compete against that! The main reason I avoided playing on the other server I won't name is because its too sweaty, which makes it not enjoyable. I enjoy CubeCraft because the games are fun without it being too easy or sweaty every game, it's medium most of the time.

SBMM is breaking EVERYTHING.
1. Ruins the Asian Community
Asia already has a much smaller player base compared to NA or EU. Stop splitting our already tiny player pool with strict SBMM! It completely kills our matchmaking.
2. Turn the game into a Ping-based nightmare (EU/NA favoritism)
When high-skill Asian players queue up, the system can't find enough local sweats, so what does it do? It throws us directly into EU sweat lobbies. Connecting from Asia to EU means playing with 300+ ping. At that point, it’s not about skill anymore—it’s pure Ping Supremacy. It literally feels like low-key harassment against Asian sweats, turning us into free kills for EU/NA players who enjoy local ping.

Instead of skill-based matchmaking they should introduce region-based matchmaking. AS player fight against AS players.
I’m currently playing BedWars Solo, and I can’t get an Asia region match at all. This is absolutely terrible. CubeCraft clearly doesn’t take Asian players into consideration at all.

I really hope this won't get added. Now don't get me wrong, if there could be a sperate mode for it, sure, thats good. But making that the baseline... idk about that. Also, I dont think it could work accuretly, or what about wide skill gap parties? My friends who dont play as much as me might have a terrible time if they constanlty have to play ws better players than them, which I guess could get boring really fast.

I dont see how this could be implamented well...

SBMM is horrible. I literally can't think of a worse idea to add to a server. My speed runs are already cooked enough without SBMM, any actual grinding is gonna be cooked. If they fully implement this, announcing my leave.

Edit: Not even gonna talk about how much longer queue times would be because of this. Already bad enough.

They already did add it for Bedwars, go look at the Bedwars update notes... They plan on bringing it to everything

In my opinion, I dont think skill based matchmaking is bad. I still have yet to face any genuinely good players despite winning most of my games. The only time ive really lost with an actual teammate was against a speedhacker. From what I can tell it almost feels like they forgot to implement it. Especially given that queue times feel the same, the level of my opponents feel the same.
