I know you made the new forums and anything and maybe you're busy fixing bugs and what-not but perhaps you could take this into consideration.

So when you get 1 alert (for example) it will say 1 next to the bell. However, I don't think it is very noticeable and maybe you could make it so the bell is shaded red or something so that it is more clear. :)
