It would be cool to have an option on the menu to appear offline, so people on your friends list don't get notifications about you. This may be useful if someone has a large friends list and wants to play alone.

But.. if you don't want to play with somebody.. Just say you that..
When someone wants to play with you, you can also ignore him. I understand why getting messages every few minutes could be annoying but there's nothing easier than messaging back.
I know how it feels, just say i don't want to play now. A real friend would understand that.
That's completely true. And the same applies to platforms like Steam or Xbox Live, but the option should be there if someone wants it. :)
Why? If you want to play alone, then you're gonna play alone. It's not like their forcing you too play with 'em
Just an add on to the suggestion. It can be like discord: You turn on "do not disturb", "idle (afk)", "online" or "invisible (to appear offline but have full access to cubecraft".
