Hey everyone,

I have been playing on the java Cubecraft network for a long time in the past and i have been playing on the Bedrock Version of Cubecraft for a while now. My main game i like to play is survivalgames and now after reaching the leaderboards, i`d like to share an updated list of my thoughts and ideas with you, how the gamemode could be improved and maybe get some love in the future.

1. The Kits One of the first things i noticed, is that the bedrock version only has 3 Kits, while all three of them seem pretty balanced, with none of them being clearly op. But when you take a closer look, there are some things that dont feel balanced. Here is a list of the kits with the three tiers, that depend on the chest loot voted for:

Swordsman: Stone Sword (Basic Items), Iron Sword (Normal Items), Iron Sword(Overpowered Items)
Warrior: Leather Chestplate (Basic items), Chain chestplate (Normal Items), Diamond chestplate (Overpowered Items)
Chef : Wood Sword + 1 Steak (Basic items), Wood Sword + 3 Steaks (Normal Items), Iron Sword + 5 Steaks(Overpowered items)

The first thing that can be noticed is that at Overpowered items there is no point in choosing Swordsman over Chef, because Chef gives you the same Sword and some Steak on top. I would strongly recommend to give swordsman Diamond Sword at Overpowered chest items, because there are so many Sharpness I-III Items in those chests, that the Sword will be beaten by alomst all of the Weapons found in overpowered Chests. With the huge amount of enchanted swords and axes at Normal Items, i would suggest to also upgrade the wood Sword of Chef to a Stone Sword at normal level, just because literally everything is better or equal to a Wood sword at normal chest items. Armorer is pretty balanced in my opinion. In some rare scenarios i get killed because i cant find a weapon quick enough, but thats probably the risk of taking armorer, which is okay in my opinion.

2. Golden Apples. At Basic and Normal Chest items i think golden apples are totally fine. But at overpowered items there seems to be a great imbalance. Some chest contain over 10 Golden apples at once, while others contain completely none. This is in my opinion not that fair. A player with 0 golden apples has literally no chance of beating a player with 10 golden apples at similar skill, so the fact that one single chest can win you almost the entire match, seems to be a bit unfair to me. On top of that, i had multiple scenarios where i had a 1vs1 against another player at the end of the match, both full enchanted with diamond armor. in 99% of the cases, the player that more golden apples won the fight, because the player had more healing backup. While Skill of course makes a difference, i feel like golden apples have to big of an impact at overpowered chest items. Many fights just come down to the fact who has more golden apples and not who has the better fighting skill. My suggestion would be to decrease the maximum number of golden apples to 1 per chest. Due to the fact that there are stronger weapons but also better armor at overpowered items, it is still fairly balanced and you can survive just as good without donzens of Golden apples 😉

3. The Tracker The Player Tracker has always been a very useful tool, but in my opinion, it is a little bit too rare. I have had many matches where i just couldnt find one to track down the last players on a huge map, which is just an avoidable waste of time in my opinion. It would be nice to see a better spawn rate of tracker in chests, or giving each player one, when there are only 3 (Players/Teams) left. This could save a lot of time.

4. Adding Cobwebs I am not sure if Cubecraft had Cobwebs in the past, but i think they would be a great addition. When your teammate has fallen early and you dont have a bow to defend yourself it can be tough to defend against a team of 2 chasing you. Cobwebs could be used to stop one of the chasers in his tracks, allowing you to focus on his teammate and fight back.

5. Cheaters Although Cheaters seem to be quite rare on bedrock, there are some that use Killaura and speedhacks. It would be nice if the Cubecraft team could implement a speed check that autokicks players that run faster than it would be normally possible for a legit player.

6. Lapis Lazuli and Enchanting bottles I dont know if this is intended or not, but enchanting seems to be not enabled on Bedrock. So i would suggest to either enable it or remove the corresponing items from the game.

7. Choosing Teammates Another nice small little addition would be to choose your teammate before a match starts, without being in a party, for example by just right clicking the player and sending a team request. Sometimes i recognized people from earlierer rounds and would have loved it if i could quickly send them an invite.

8. Time control In some rare scenarios i had a player stuck under the center of the map, which made that game last basically for ever. There seems to be no time limit on how long a match can go on, so i suggest a deathmatch after 10 minutes have passed. The Deathmatch teleports all players to the middle and lets them battle it out. On top of that, the border should shrink slowly to zero, so that the game can not be held hostage forever, if some players decide to break the rules and do crossteaming. If there is player stuck unter the map, that tries to win by abusing this bug, the player that played the round normally should have food or healing potions so that he can withstand the zone damage longer.

9. Add more stuff I know thats a very general suggestion, but there are a lot of things that could make the game more fun and increase the variety of the gamemode. Maybe add ridable hores as a rare items, or add more potions than just healing potions, There are currently no items that increase player speed, so speed potions or a speed boost after getting a kill would also be great. I would also love too see more kits like java edition had, but i dont know how doable that is in Bedrock.

10. The Zone Although the zone is visible now, its still as buggy as before, sometimes you would just get stuck in the air and have no way to defend yourself

11. Arrow trails Skywars already has this, why not Survival games too ^^

12. Choosing your Region When i play in the evening, there are more NA Servers than EU Servers and i most of the time get connected to NA servers where my ping is just aweful and i have to go back to lobby and retry joining a EU Server. it would be nice if you could select the region you want to play on, i have no problem with waiting a bit for a round with decent connection.

Thanks everyone for reading, if you have any more things to add or want to discuss, feel free to comment and share your opinion 😊
Have a nice day!

Survival games got its last big update in I believe September 2020, so this would be a nice and much needed update.

Wow, that's a lot of text, it seems like you've put a lot of time into this, which is great! I've reacted with unsure beceause there's a lot to say about this, both good and bad, so I guess I'll clarify point by point. :)

1. Kit balancing: Your point about the kits being unbalanced is for sure true, and needs a fix. What you've suggested seems perfectly fine to me!

2. Gapples spawning unevenly: Now to be very clear I don't play Bedrock, so I have no idea how gapples spawn exactly, but the way you've explained it does make it seem like a bit of a problem, I'd personally say 1 gapple per chest is a bit too low, but they should definitely spawn more evenly throughout the chests.

3. Trackers being rare: Again, I don't play Bedrock, but if they spawn at the same rate as on Java they should definitely be more common, although I don't really think it's neccessary to give every player them after reaching a certain amount of survivors.

4. Cobwebs being added: Now I don't strongly disagree with this, however I personally feel like this wouldn't solve the problem of a 2v1, because they can use them just as easily as you. It could make for some impressive plays, but especially in OP I feel like being trapped would be more of a nuisance or annoyance than an interesting addition to the gameplay, I'd love to see what others think though!

5. The Anti-Cheat: While I do understand it's frustrating to see cheaters, some cheaters are inevitable, Cubecraft already has a dedicated Sentinel Developer, and are doing everything they can to improve it. Obviously I agree it should be improved further, but it already is, so I don't really see what you're trying to suggest here.

6. Enchanting: This however is something I can agree with again, it makes no sense for enchanting to be disabled entirely and still get the items. Either enable enchanting or remove lapiz and xp bottles.

7. Team selection: This seems to be missing entirely on Bedrock, and I'm not sure why, there may be an actual reason for this (if there is please let me know), but otherwise I agree it should be added! :)

8. Time control: As far as I know there's already a world border that slowly shrinks, it doesn't reach 0, but I don't think it should. Assuming no one is bug abusing there's absolutely nothing wrong with the world border shrinking and letting players fight it out. If someone is bug abusing you should report them for it considering it's bannable! :)

9. Add stuff: You already pointed out this is a way too general suggestion, no one can actually do anything with the suggestion to "add stuff", you're gonna have to be a lot more specific. As for the suggestions you made here, I don't think ridable horses would be very beneficial in Survival Games, I don't know about Bedrock but they'd be practically unusable in a lot of Java maps due to height differences in the maps, horses can't climb ladders yaknow! :p As for speed potions, I'm tempted to agree, potentially add them as a kit, along with some other ones.

10. The zone: I'll be honest, I have no idea what you mean with any of this.. Oops

11. Arrow trails: Considering that Skywars has it, I don't see a reason for SG not to!

12. Region selection: This is more of a general suggestion than just a SG one, however, although understand it can be annoying, I definitely don't agree with this. Cube already does everything it can to ensure you get in the most beneficial region for you, and due to the changes in amounts of players from different regions etc it works perfectly fine as it is!

Thanks for taking the time to write your suggestion, and reading this! I hope you have a lovely rest of your day! :)

Thanks for taking the time to write your suggestion, and reading this! I hope you have a lovely rest of your day! :)
Wow bro thank you so much ! That is really the kind of input i need
I will quickly answer to some of the points on my list you dont agree with me on so maybe you can better understand me on them

1. Tracker The point with giving players the tracker after being very few players/teams left was to prevent a player crouching in the very corner of the map behind a bush and stalling the game for several minutes. However i see your point because at only a few players remaining, the zone would be problably pretty small already so you should find the last surviors faster, so good point

2. Cobwebs The thing is, back when i started playing on cubcraft like over 6 years ago, they had cobwebs already and i loved it. you are right with them being used in a 2v1 against you, but when in a 2v1 you are already in a big disadvantage so the best options often times is to run. And this is were the cobwebs play a big role, because if you are beigng chased, you can put a cobweb behind you, but they cant put one in front of you, so you immbolize one and unleash a quick combo on his teammate to gain the upper hand.

3. Cheaters you are totally right with cheaters not beeing completely inevitalble. However, i have seen a lot of players using speed hacks, and this could be easily avioided by kicking the player at too high sprinting speed. i know killaura and stuff is hard to deal with, thats why i just mentioned what could be done against speedhacks in my orginal post and not killaura. I just wanted to list all common hacks i have to deal with regulary :)

4. Time control okay ill get a little bit more precise here. What happens if the 2 last remaining teams decide to not kill each other? they just can occupy the server forever and block the server from further games being played on. if i had 100 friends and we all would join random games and just say this is our server now, you cant use it anymore ^^ Furthermore, on some rare occasions, players spawn UNDER the map. its not their fault but you cant kill them there either which leads to you having to wait till they starve, which just takes way too long. of course its not their fault for spawning there, but it once more occupies an SG-server for a very long time period. thats why i suggested an timed and forcing end so games actually would come to an end.

5. Add more stuff i totally agree with you this point is rather dumb to make, but i just want to see some new stuff being added to the gamemode in general, so it can be potentially more fun ^^

6. Zone When knocking players into the zone in bedrock they often get stuck in the air and cant move due to the damage ticks, which gives you a free kill and i hate that ^^ at least they made the border more visible now

7 Region I understand what you mean. in the evening there are more NA servers than EU servers due to the player count. this means there are more NA SG-servers online and you are more likely to be put on one of them because it starts the game faster. But there are still EU servers online and there are actually players waiting there too, but you rather get moved into the NA server because they are more likely to be close to beeing full. I would love it, if the system would first check if there is an EU server waiting too and putting you there before sending you to the more popular NA servers. NA servers are rather unplayable for me due to the insane lag, so it would be nice to at least see in the manual join menue which server is EU or NA so you at least can manually choose to wait longer and have a better experinece instead.

Thanks again dude, we need more people like you!

No worries! I've enjoyed doing it! :)
Thanks for actually taking the time to read and react to it though! :D

Yeah I do suppose it could prevent people from simply running around in circles endlessly, good point! :)

However, i have seen a lot of players using speed hacks, and this could be easily avioided by kicking the player at too high sprinting speed.
I don't code myself nor am I an expert on Anti-cheat systems, however I somehow have a feeling that if it were this simple it would already be implemented. I could see either the existance of lag, or items like speed potions, enderpearls, and elytra being very tricky to take into consideration with a solution as simple as a speed limiter. However as I said, I don't code and I'm not an expert on hacking or anticheats so I could be completely wrong about that.

if i had 100 friends and we all would join random games and just say this is our server now, you cant use it anymore
Well if this were to happen I suppose Cube would open up more maps, since afaik it opens maps based on the need for them, and eventually of all these lobbies would crash. It's not really that major of a problem at the moment I believe. Besides, this would be a very rare occurance.

When knocking players into the zone in bedrock they often get stuck in the air and cant move due to the damage ticks, which gives you a free kill and i hate that
Oh. I see, that does sound annoying, thanks for clarifying! :)
Although that sounds a lot more like a bug rather than a feature, have you already made a bug report about this?

I would love it, if the system would first check if there is an EU server waiting too and putting you there before sending you to the more popular NA servers. NA servers are rather unplayable for me due to the insane lag, so it would be nice to at least see in the manual join menue which server is EU or NA so you at least can manually choose to wait longer and have a better experinece instead.
Yeah I definitely understand your frustration about this. And to an extent I can agree that being able to see what lobbies are NA, AS, or EU would be lovely. However I will add that by implementing something like this, it doesn't just impact your waiting time, it impacts everyone's waiting time. Because if there's less EU players and they all insist on joining EU maps, that also takes away from players in NA lobbies. It'll extend everyone's waiting time, directly or indirectly. Obviously neither of us have statistics available to us to check this, which the Admin team does. Therefore I'm inclined to go along with whatever they think is best, because they probably have their reasons for it!

Thanks again dude, we need more people like you!
Right back at you btw! :p
As I said before it's obvious you've spent a lot of time and effort making this thread, and I, and a lot of others, really appreciate that! :D

I love cobwebs, you can do so much with them. Prevent fall damage, negate knockback, and if there are two guys behind you spamming left click you can make them pay for it :D

i think minecraft in its current state offers a lot of options to figure out what a player is doing and flying and teleporting can be distinguished from running. But i only can speculate too, i have no background knowledge ;)

If the cubecraft network really just can open more and more new servers thats good. sadly that still doesnt fix the issue with players under the map though ^^ But good to see at least not all servers can be held hostage

I did not file a bug report yet, because i thought if i were a dev and playing and testing my own game i would quickly realize that. But you are right i should do it

The Region problem will always reamin a mystery whats best. But from experience, the NA servers get filled within seconds, not even kidding, so if the game starts in 11 seconds compared to 10 seconds i think that wouldnt hurt anyone. Lets say 30% are EU in the evening. if you could choose the region and all EU players would choose EU i think the NA server would still fill up in under 20 seconds. Thats insane for minecraft these days and in my opnion is fully okay if it allows everyone to play with good ping and connection.

I have one last thing to add that really bothers me. Surival Games is one of THE Minecraft OG games and a piece of Minecrafts Multiplayer history, but sadly it doenst get much love anymore. On Cubecraft this Gamemode doesnt even have a discord channel or an extra forum thread like all the other games. The game just feels abandoned. it rarely gets updated, enchanting bottles have been there forever and huge things like that kits not making sense like swordsman and chef having the same sword at OP items, have also never been fixed. And the argument "its not worth it because it has not enough players" doenst count for me. I could say aswell of course it has less players if the gamemode doesnt receive love. The gamemode is such a great one with so much potential and it makes me a little bit sad the cubecraft team doesnt see that. If its because you dont have enough devs, i would work on it, i study computer science and think i have the competence to do so, maybe ill get the chance some day ^^

cheers! Thanks again Goldy

Yeah there are probably ways to distinguish them, however the question would be how reliable they'd be. Imagine, if you Enderpearl into a block and glitch in/out of it you'd probably be moving faster than running, (Not sure if that's a Java only thing but I'd imagine it's in Bedrock too). I could see things like this leading to problems since you're not exactly teleporting anymore at this point. Again I have no background knowledge, but it just seems too simple to not already be implemented if it worked.

I did not file a bug report yet, because i thought if i were a dev and playing and testing my own game i would quickly realize that.
Understandable thought process, however there are a lot of bugs, it's inevitable some of giong to fly under the radar for a while, that's exactly the reason bug reports are a thing! Besides, even if it is known, additional bug reports can provide additional information, in turn making it much easier to find and fix the problem! :)

The Region problem will always reamin a mystery whats best. But from experience, the NA servers get filled within seconds, not even kidding, so if the game starts in 11 seconds compared to 10 seconds i think that wouldnt hurt anyone. Lets say 30% are EU in the evening.
Again, your thought process here does make sense, however as I said before, we have much less information than Cubecraft's Admin Team, who are more than qualified to analyse said information and come to the best possible solution! :)

The game just feels abandoned. it rarely gets updated, enchanting bottles have been there forever and huge things like that kits not making sense like swordsman and chef having the same sword at OP items, have also never been fixed.
Yeah I definitely understand your frustration, and I agree SG deserves a lot more love than it's getting. And I agree with a lot of what you've suggested! :D

Okay yeah due to the fact we cant say how the system exactly works with the running speed tracking, i think we cant make a safe conclusion there, exactly as with the Region system ^^

I reported two bugs yesterday and will gater footage of the zone bug today and also report it to the team, i am exited to see what they say

I really hope they give SG some of the love it deserves, i love it so much

i will update any progress news here :D

Cheers!

Agreed, without extensive knowledge of how both systems work it's hard to think of improvements...

Sounds awesome! Good luck! :D

100% Agree, Survival Games is one of the oldest game on CubeCraft Bedrock (with Ew, Sw & MinerWare) It's almost the same game and the only update was the 2v2 SG Gamemode.
It need more content or the gamemode will just die someday.
