What are your best tricks for lucky islands?

If you have any cool tricks or strategies for lucky islands, share them here. Here are some of my best stratigies:

Be the first to the middle
Use hay bales for bread
Use the OP speed potions to send players running straight into the void (this is the best way to eliminate OP full diamond players)
Never stand on top of a lucky block (you never know when you will get a death trap or void hole)
Use the shield wand like an autobridger to get between islands.
