Now that I've caught your attention with a somewhat relevant title, I want to share my point of view on this ever increasingly popular topic, of course being the punishment system.
I'll be playing doubles advocate, considering both sides clearly have valid reasons for acting the way they are. But I want to make one thing extremely clear:
THIS ENTIRE THING IS SO BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION,
from both sides, and it makes me want to smash my head in when I'm reading some of the comments being thrown around on the forums. UGH. It's really starting to piss me off, considering how great the community was when I first saw it. Now it's all gone to hell, over a select bunch of individuals who decide to screw everyone over. It's so unfair, but honestly, it's so dumb how the situation's been handled.

First of all, every single staff member on the CCG team owes all of us NOTHING. We didn't spend hours, weeks, months of hard work to get a global Minecraft server up and running. Sure, you might have donated to the server, but hopefully, it was because you wanted to support this fantastic team who has already done so much for everyone involved. All the staff members could easily give up, resign, and walk away and leave us all to rot. They volunteered their time to help ban away hackers, and again, OWE YOU NOTHING. Same goes with the developers; give them the decency they deserve. All of these threads complaining and whining is absolutely pathetic. I might not be as frustrated as some of you on the community, considering I'm not on the server 24/7, but I have never run into some of the problems you guys have. 10 hackers in one day? You have to be playing through the night to run into THAT many, at least a couple of hours. Why do you think they changed the punishment system? Do you think they intentionally want their player base to run away? Use some common sense. If they think it's a good idea, clearly they have their reasons that they haven't expressed with us all, which on the same token, I'm going to flip my side here.

So, obviously there's an issue here. With an upwards of 20+ threads being on the SAME, DAMN topic, clearly there is some unrest. I might not have experienced the same issues, but if this is actually happening, instead of saying "This is the best solution possible", take a step back and look at the problem from our, the player's point of view. It is so frustrating to run into a hacker, albeit maybe not as many as some exaggerate it to be. The caption under the Suggestions sub-forum is "Post any of your server suggestions here! You are heard!" Clearly we're being heard, but nothing is happening, so it seems to us. All the answers the staff give us are the same vague things that can already be assumed. Miscommunication has been a major misstep and can be very frustrating to us players who have been waiting for some kind of positive change to solve the issues. I haven't seen a post from a staff member explaining why 1 week of a ban is good enough for a hacker. NONE. An explanation would be great. Just because the staff are the ones who run the server shouldn't mean that us players should have no say in some of the bigger things that go on in the server. Many of the complaints are definitely valid, and the huge build up of reports directly correlates to this new system. It's kinda obvious something's amiss here, and some more actions and explanations I think would satisfy us a lot more than the same response over and over and over.

tl;dr: My suggestion is to just give it time. I surely hope the staff have some kind of solution, yet on the other end, we really do need to see some follow up. If the problem continues, I feel that a much better explanation is definitely deserved by the community. We're all working towards the same goal, why can't both sides just cooperate?

I didn't mean to offend anyone in this post. If it's seen as so, feel free to lock it. I would just appreciate for something positive to come out of this.

The one week ban serves as a warning ban for first time hackers, as a sort of first hit to the head if I can say it like that, after that they will be less inclined to hack.
I'm going to be working on an explanation thread but I need some time to gather information on the matter and a bit of time to research the different problems, to explain our solutions for each one accordingly.
I cannot make any promises about when I'll be making this thread as I need to consult a lot of people for each point... patience is key, for the moment we are also banning more hackers than usual, thus spending less time enjoying the games to make sure you get the best experience from it.

Most hackers don't care about being banned, that is why I would think the 1st ban would be a month. If you look at the thread I posted, I had the general support.

That is true, I know on many other servers with 1-7 day first ban times, 9/10 times the hacker comes back after the ban is up. I mean yeah, there might be a few players willing to wait a month or use an alt, but I believe that most people will give up on using hacks IF they know that they will be banned for longer periods of time.
(Sorry if that made no sense whatsoever)

*Cough* https://www.cubecraft.net/threads/jawzpro-and-iirusty.134312/ *Cough* https://www.cubecraft.net/threads/jawzpro-is-at-it-again.140735/ (the new ban system made his sentence from 1 year to 1 week and he still hacked again.) The hit on the head is a soft slap on the wrist, hackers could use the first ban as a way to test their hacks/see how much they can get away with since it's so short.

Someone lock this, please. The point wasn't to start more conflict, and I got my point across. The point was (hopefully) to bring more attention to a possible solution, and to have both sides understand each other a bit more.
This entire thing just isn't worth it. :s
