Hi!

So, I am making this thread to talk about the amount of time people are muted or banned. I have a problem with it personally. I do NOT think hackers should be banned for one year on their first offense. Sure, if it like their third time doing something like that, then yes, go ahead and ban them for a year. But I think things should be different, because it should only take a few months for a person to learn their lesson. I would love to see a system that goes as follows as to receiving a ban via hacking or exploiting.

  1. On the first offense, they receive a two to three month ban at most, maybe even four.
  2. On the second offense, or maybe even the third, they receive a ban for at least 8 to 12 months, and if it continues, a perm ban.
I say these things on the behalf of my banned friend, who upon using a little hack for the first time, was banned for a year. It does not take him a year to learn his lesson, and I believe he deserves a smaller ban. All in all, i believe the ban punishments are a little harsh, and would love if they were decreased a small bit.

Thanks for reading, and if anybody supports or does not support this suggestion, please reply why you do or do not.

P.S. - Also, I think that if those hackers admit to it, it should be shortened. Showing that they admit their faults is really responsible of them. I'm not saying they should get off the hook, I'm just saying maybe take 4 or 5 months off, so it isn't as bad as one year.

The thing with adding more than 1 extra chance(I think ban appeals are that extra chance) is that hackers can abuse it 2 times instead of 1. The hackers know what they are getting into when they hack, so 1 year seems pretty fitting.(Since by the time somebody has caught them they probably have ruined multiple games) All hacks have different severities of bad, but the intention to hack definitely deserves a long ban. Also what was this "little" hack that your friend was using? Also has your friend put a ban appeal yet?(not sure if it works for confirmed hackers)

My friend has made a ban appeal already, but it was denied. The little hack he was accused of was kill aura, and the reason i call it a little hack is because it was the first time he has used it before. Not sure if he knew how hacks worked or if he knew they were against the rules, but the one time he used it in a game, someone reported him. Honestly, I don't think that deserves a one year punishment.

Excuse me but killaura is not a "little" hack if anything it's one of the, if not the most severe hack you could use,no matter if it's only the first time.(Since it completely ruins games for people) If they wanted to know how hacks worked they should have used them in singleplayer where they can't ruin people's games. Not knowing the rules does not allow you to get a easier time for breaking them, also no hacks is a rule in most servers.

The thing is, their current punishment system is being overhauled.
They are currently working on a new punishment system where it wouldn't be too strict.

A little hack or a big hack doesn't matter, it is still illegal and not allowed. When you join a server, the first thing you do is read the rules.
If your friend appeal has been denied, please start a private conversation with the staff member that has banned him. Remember to be patient while waiting for a response.
There are consequences for every action - not knowing it isn't allowed isn't a good excuse. You will have to be prepared to face any harsh punishment waiting in line, that's what hackers agree on when they decide to download the client.

It wont be less strict, hacked clients aren't allowed and ruin games.

When the new ban system is unveiled, I believe it will be permanent, so he actually lucked out.

@awesomebutter234 Thank you for the input, I understand. All I'm saying is that he should maybe receive an extra chance. He has done all he has, he has taken time out of his life to make a ban appeal, and he has personally talked to the Mod who banned him, who just kept turning him down.

@zRinne When are they implementing this new, less strict system? And thank you for the input, I understand completely :D

Well.. that I am not too sure sadly.
I don't think it's on their priority list :confused1: I know they are also busy working on a new forums as players find it hard to navigate here.
Not to mention all the bugs they need to fix. We will have to be patient and wait for their update I guess.

I highly disagree with that, I think @Cheez said that when the new system arrives hackers will be banned permanently.
Also, what is your friend's IGN?

The less strict punishment system is for crossteaming and team killing.

They should still be able to appeal for their bans - no server would kick their players out permanently unless it's a ddos/death threat that would be categorized as "no appeal".
Other than that, I think everyone has the right to appeal as they may truly be sorry for their action caused or have been unfairly banned.

They'll be able to appeal, but it would still be entered as permanent, I think.

Well that logic is quite a double edged sword you have there. If they truly did feel sorry for their actions they probably would not have done it in the first place.Since they know they have a second chace then they know that they have 1 free go at hacking(basically).
Everyone deserves a second chance but you have to think about this first, either risk that person coming back and ruining more games before they are banned again, or not take the chance and allow people to not have to worry about that hacker.

I guess it mostly depends on their offence and how several it is.

Thing is, even if they did appeal, it's not guaranteed that they will be unbanned. Some people need a slap in their face to wake up and realize what they have been doing was wrong. Again it doesn't apply for everyone. I'm sure the staff members are able to determine who are truly sorry and who are saying for the sake of it. It's all based on their judgement.
If they want to risk a year ban with no guarantee that their appeal might get accepted, then they can't complain if their appeal does get denied.

An in real life example would be :
Guy makes fun of someones sister, think it's funny and cool. One day some tougher looking kid started making fun of his beloved sister, then only will he realized what it feels to be the victims sibling. It's like, you don't normally notice it til someone points out your wrong doing.
Sorry, I'm not that good at explaining but I hope you get where I'm coming from.

Considering how no hacking is a rule on most servers, unless they are really young then that means they knew what they were doing is wrong.(I Hate the youtubers showcasing hacks which in turn makes impresionable kids more likely to do it)

Eh, 1 year is still better than permanent right?

Hackers know that hacking is bannable, if they choose to hack its up to them to assume their punishment.

The thing is, their current punishment system is being overhauled.

Yes, the punishment system is being overhauled, but not for the better of the hackers, the main problem with it is that we cannot punish small offences such as teaming in solo (the minimum ban is 1 month), the system isn't too strict on the big offenders. 1 year is fair, as all hackers should know what they are getting themselves into by hacking.

I think it should be:
First ban : 1 year
Second ban : permanent

I fully agree with this. Maybe, if tiers are added.
NOTE: This is the MAXIMUM the minimum can be made by other help/mods
Tier One is small offences: Chat swearing/profanity or self advertisement + crossteaming/traming in solo mode
*Max one month
Tier Two is Medium Offences: Hack Clients ONLY (includes: anti knockback, kill aura, fly, dolphin)
*Max 3 months (first offence) Note: This does not include attempting to buypass punishment
*Max 1 year (second offence)
*Perm Ban (third offence)
Tier Three Major Offences: DoS (Denial of Service) or DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service)
*Perm Ban (first offence) + Other issues (police)
