Do you think there needs to be a confirmation on the Applies?

CODE RED I REPEAT CODE RED.....
Hi people of the Internet...
So I'm here to tell you the Applications biggest problem...
As you all know the Helper Applications have opened again...
Wonderful... (I applied.... Duh... But that's not important right now...)
So I went and applied because why not...
Everything is just fine there is only one problem...

How do you confirm that you are the one making your application!
There no E-mails or passwords nothing...
Jealous people/haters or trolls can just make a second application knowing your county/IGN/Forum name etc.... and then ruin it....
Example:

Maybe this is already suggested but I think there needs to come something that you can confirm its you or not...
Maybe you didn't even apply and you get the Rank....
That would be weird but yeah be careful for Haters :p
A password or a E-mail confirmation but that could also be faked... IDK...
What do you think?

Well Chalas!

This is a really good thread!
You can't confirm it is you.
Maybe they can do that by sending an e-mail to your forum account e-mail?
Else people can apply for you when you aren't actually applying.
And yes it can be ruined then.

Would be nice! Maybe you can recieve a mail after you filled it in? So you know the apply arrived.

Funny enough I thought about this one aftet I applied too. So yes, I do agree that there should be some sort of a confirmation system although staff could probably tell if an application was a troll or not, then later on finding another apply by 'the same' person but a more serious application.

I agree with this. A lot of people can try to ruin your chances or use profanity to get you into trouble. I know that some servers do have a confirmation of some sort, and I think that would be beneficial for player safety.

That would still be hard for the people going through apps to determine things like that. But if someone was trolling, they could make a fairly serious app, but not good enough to get accepted. So yeah..

Yeah. Maybe there could be an option that you log in again before sending in an application? Or maybe email the person a code that they attach to their application?

I personally don't think it's as crazy as everyone is making it out to be. It's very easy to see which is a troll post and which isn't. Also like I've mentioned in the staff apps post "We look at the quality of your posts/threads on the forums, to determine maturity, dedication and other attributes." Its not hard to compare your forums post/thread writing style to your app. And if you were to apply it's very easy to compare the 'fake' app and the 'real' app. I've never actually seen anyone pretend to be someone else as of yet (I've looked through over 2k apps), only people trolling being staff.

I do agree however, a better application form system that gives you replies would be better, which is something I'm looking forward to bringing in the future. This specific helper application form will only be open for a short amount of time. So we can go through the applications a lot faster and 'hopefully' recruit helpers a lot faster. Hope this clears up any concerns :P

I've never thought of it like this before! I think they should make it so you write the application on the website, not an external website.

I don't think this matters much, as your application alone doesn't guarantee you helper. If we like your application we contact you and setup an interview and that in itself would confirm whether or not you are who you say you are.

But, the problem is not somebody making a serious apply for you, but somebody making a troll apply, to destroy your chances of being a helper. However, what Luke said seems enough for me ;)

I also think that a message like this (if declined, message to your profile): "Your application was declined [reason], you cannot apply again until next round of application", will be also OK.

Back to the topic, I like it +1

Great idea! Let us go through 500 applications and tell each and every one of them that their application was denied and why!
