now do you chang the skin in minecraft or just on forums? IDK how this works I'm kinda a noob with skins

To change your ingame skin you go to https://minecraft.net/profile & then upload the skin you've downloaded.

To change your forum picture, you hover over your name in the top right corner & click Avatar.
