Although I do like this suggestion, there may be other players who wish to add to the evidence provided and will be unable to do so. Also, the original creator of the thread may not be able to review their thread or add to it when necessary.

The only problem I see except the ones already mentioned is that there might be a lot of reports on the same person, which will increase the work for the staffmembers who are taking care of the reports.

Maybe having a list of people that got a mute/ban for X reason? so If you put a name and the guy that you are trying to report already got his punishment for the same reason you are reporting him, it could give a popup message that says ''This user is already punish for this reason''

I'm not completely sure how forums work, but from what I know I don't think that would work. :/ How about instead of making the report section private, create some sort of report system with name, reason and evidence etc.? It could be a private, if that's what you're looking for :)

Yeah, my idea is that the report section is private and nothing more, I'm getting annoyed that people replies to my/others reports because they think is wrong.. in a forum of another popular server they have this

Some of us might enjoy reading player reports though? Is there any specific reason to make them private?

Yeah but it's like public shaming too, and there are players that blame on others on the reports... what if you get reported and banned and a lot of people reads it and remembers you as a bad person? it's not cool

You know what also isn't cool? Installing a program which gives you an unfair advantage against other players

I kinda like the idea of reports being kept private. With concerns about people not being able to add evidence to the reports that others have made, perhaps it would be possible to keep all 'in-date' reports (i.e reports where the player is still serving their ban time) in a database, and using some SQL trickery perhaps we could add later reports on that same person into the evidence field of that person's record - meaning if multiple people submit reports, all the evidence is stored under one field in the player's record. (Keep in mind this may actually not be possible for a number of reasons and my knowledge of SQL is very limited.)

So you want to public shame the cheaters? you are conscious that cheaters aren't the only type of people reported? you basically want to public shame people because they broke a rule on a Minecraft server

For people that don't care about shaming hackers, perhaps an alternate view would be making them private would protect the anonymity of the reporters. Imagine if one player made a lot of reports, which led to some people being banned - then their friends gave the reporter a hard time about it. Making the reports private allows people who don't want to be identified to report.
