For all of you who don't know this, although I doubt there are many who play on this server that don't, this server has a "No Swearing" policy in place. It is my personal belief that this rule is not only too heavily enforced, but that it is completely unnecessary.
Firstly, we all need to understand that this is the internet, and that there are things a lot worse than someone cursing in a video game. Now, I could see a warning or even a mute if a person or a group of people were being attacked using derogatory language, but to me someone getting angry and saying "Fuck!" in chat does not constitute either of those punishments. The fact is, no matter which way you spin it, no one is going to be hurt by swearing. It's not going to induce physical or emotional pain.
Secondly, the word "gay" is blocked on the server. To me, this seems incredibly homophobic. If someone wants to come out of the closet one day, and they say that they're gay, are they going to be given a warning for language? Would they be muted if they disputed that warning?
These are just my beliefs. I want to know what the people of this server think. The only thing that I ask is that if the majority of the people who see this post agree with me, that you remove this rule. It's stupid to uphold a rule that the bulk of people disagree with. If I may say one last thing, it is that I believe, that if this rule is abolished, it will not only make this server more popular, but it will also make the server as a whole a better, less strict place.

I slightly agree with you, but know that there are a lot of sensitive people on the internet that get easily offended. If you want to let out some anger, just say it out loud. You don't have to necessarily type it into chat

Honestly, I don't see this "no swearing" policy being removed or made less-strict. There are a lot of kids on this server, and the way most people see it is to try and not expose these children to such profanity. Although, the majority of children nowadays are exposed to a lot of foul language through television, the internet etc.

At first, it does seem quite homophobic when words such as 'Gay' and 'Lesbian' are censored, but when you think about it, if these words aren't censored, bullies and trolls would be able to use 'Gay' and 'Lesbian' in a negative light.

If someone was to say something like, "Ew, don't be a ga y idiot", that person should receive a warning for masking. But if someone was to say "I am a lesb ian", that shouldn't receive any warnings. It depends on the context of the statement.

Something that does seem homophobic to me is the fact that 'Gay' and 'Lesbian' are blocked but 'Fag', 'Faggot' and 'Lesbo' are not. I find this quite offensive and demeaning.

(Don't mean to offend anyone :p)

If the "No Swearing" rule was removed, yes, some kids would be offended by the language. It may, however, attract a more mature audience to the server. In my experience, it's not the swearing that's the problem, it's the attacking of others via these swear words that is the real problem. If we allowed swearing but still disallowed language that could hurt another person or group of people, I don't see anyone remotely mature being offended. Seriously, as I stated in my earlier post, there are worse things on the internet than a swear word. If you can't take someone swearing, you really aren't mature enough to be on the internet.

Some words have to be censored to prevent others from getting hurt.
Yeah, I can see slang terms for minorities and things of the like being censored. Specifically what I'm saying is that I don't think that swearing in general should be disallowed, I just think that if someone is saying a word to get at someone, that that shouldn't be allowed. I think that we should be allowed to say things like "Shit! I fell on the parkour :c" without getting a warning. I'm not at all saying that we should be allowed to hurt others or attack them without fear of repercussions.

Eh, kids, possibly as young as 8 (or even younger) go on this server, its about keeping a nice community and people would take the 'swearing' out of proportion and use it to rage at everyone, the no swearing policy is good, imo, the community is a lot more friendly then if swearing was allowed. 'Gay' being censored is because, as you all know, people use it as an insult way too much, I don't see why your sexuality needs to be shared on the server, if you were 'gay' or 'lesbian' :)

I don't get these threads.... Why do you WANT little kids learning inappropriate and/or sexual things, just because they learned a word and got curious...

You have to look at the bigger(est) picture.

Ex.: Little kid sees foul word, Googles it, and finds something that his parents DON'T want him looking at.

This would just destroy the already fragile minds of these young kids. Think about that....

There's a server i know that allows searing; but just not using it in a negative light as in; to hurt someone or just for attention and drama. Perhaps that could work. But I do see both sides of the argument.

On the bad side; it could destroy a child's fragile mind by googling the word.
But on the good side; it can attract a much more mature audience, and it would probably get rid of some of the constant hack blaming in Kit PvP, Assassins, Factions, or anything else involving PvP.

What I'm not getting is why a 6 year old would be able to look up these words on google. Are parents really that inept as to let their young child on the internet without any parental controls?

Some members ask me about my sexuality whenever I say I love a female player (in a friend way). I have nothing to hide, so I tell the truth.

The server can attract a more mature audience even with the rule.
True, true...
But i'm just tired of ragers calling hacks on everyone that kills them, when really it might've been lag, or the person who killed them is just better at PvP. True, I don't play it PvP, Assassins, or any of the sort very often. But it does annoy me, and i think it drives some more mature people further away from the server due to the annoyance.
