When can you get boosters

I’ve been playing on a co-op world with my friend and I was just wondering when you unlock boosters and if anyone can tell me what they do aswell I will be grateful

You get boosters by crafting a daylight sensor which requires nether
the sensor will open a menu where you can use items to boost

Once you unlock the nether, which gives you the ability to use quartz, you can then craft daylight sensors (aka Optimisers)
