This suggestion is for EggWars, but it could be added for any game.
We all know that EggWars maps are floating in the air, like SkyWars. This suggestion is simple, maps below the water.

Example that would consist of:
A normal map, but instead of having empty when you look at a place where there is nothing, there is water. You could also add some waterfall, or things like that. Also, if you fall, you will not fall to nothing. You will fall in the water, and it will take you to kill you for 2 seconds (in case you can throw an ender pearl to save yourself in those 2 last seconds :p).

This example is only for a specific map, but there may be many themes to create maps. If you like the idea, you can leave suggestions of types of maps that you would like.
Edit: In case I have not explained myself well: I'm not asking that we have to go for water on a map. I am asking that it be covered with water, and that we do not see only empty when we look where there is nothing.

Edit: I just entered the suggestion forum again, and I just saw a suggestion that has the name "Underwater maps". I'm not copying from the person who made that suggestion, is that I had not realized that it was there. I'm sorry if it's the same idea or you think I'm copying the person who did that suggestion.

the whole point of "sky" games like eggwars and skywars is that if you fall, you die. it should kill instantly.

Well, this was just to see what the idea seemed like to people, but you do not need to fall into the water. I'm just saying it could be. Anyway, it's ok to fall into the void, although I think it is a little "abandoned" in Minecraft, because it only has a black texture, or white (if you have not fallen too much). It would also be good to replace the void with some texture.

Why not just stick to lowering the void insta-kill thing?
Anyways, this won't really be useful in 1.9+ due to the way projectiles travel if you shoot one while falling. You can hardly shoot an arrow right if you're falling, let alone an ender pearl. The only times I can see this work is if you throw it & jump off of a ledge or something to escape, then land the pearl somewhere safe while you're falling.
This will be pretty useful in 1.8 though. (this being lowering the void kill zone thing, not the water thing. Water is unnecessary)

The water was only a suggestion, because the theme of this thread was of maps underwater. I repeat: I know that water is unnecessary, but it was only an idea / mini-suggestion that has to do with the thread.
