I believe that was to prevent campers who spinned around themselves to prevent anyone getting in.

It Happened to rubik in his stream, he said that it Is a bug on the map "dinner", because of the red clay, it "really doesn't like the blue wool" and it glitches out and detects the clay as red wool and kills the player straight away, from what I've seen and played there is a 1 in 15 Chance that it will happen to you.

The same thing happened to me on ice though.
