SkyWars Kit Update Ideas
I think SkyWars could really use a kit update. Some existing kits are missing items that would make them feel more complete, while there is also room for some completely new kits. The main goal, in my opinion, should be more meaningful kit choices without creating one kit that is clearly better than everything else. A kit should give you a different playstyle, not simply be the objectively strongest option. Ideally, the kits should also work across all game modes, including Advanced when it arrives.
Here are some ideas for outdated kits:
Blacksmith
The Blacksmith kit should have a Smithing Table. It would make a lot of sense thematically, and I don't think it would be game-breaking. I'd personally give it a Smithing Table at least in Normal and Overpowered modes.
Enchanting
The Enchanting kit could use a Grindstone.A Grindstone would fit the kit perfectly and give it some extra utility without making it overpowered. It could allow players to remove unwanted enchantments and potentially make more interesting decisions with their gear.
Archer
The Archer kit having a Crossbow would also make a lot of sense.I wouldn't necessarily add one in Basic or Normal, but in Overpowered I think a Crossbow alongside the Bow would be a great addition. It would make the kit feel more complete while giving players another option for ranged combat.
Builder
I also think the Builder kit could use a small change. Instead of giving Bricks, it could give 16 Scaffolding.I think this would be especially useful in the early game. Scaffolding would make it easier to quickly build bridges and move between islands without being as vulnerable to getting shot off. At the same time, I don't think this would make the kit too strong, because you only have a limited amount of Scaffolding. You can't build unlimited bridges with it, so you still have to manage your blocks and make decisions about when to use them. It could also make the kit more accessible for new players, giving them an easier and safer way to learn bridging while still creating more opportunities for action and movement around the map.
Overall, I think 16 Scaffolding would fit the Builder kit much better than Bricks while keeping it useful without making it overpowered / game-breaking.
Here are some ideas for new kits:
Brewer
A completely new Brewer Kit could be really interesting. For example, the kit could contain a Brewing Stand and a number of random potion ingredients. The ingredients could change from game to game, so you wouldn't always have exactly the same combination of potions available.
That could create a unique playstyle without making the kit completely predictable.
Breeze
Another new kit I'd love to see is a Breeze kit based around Wind Charges.Something like:
- Basic: 4 Wind Charges
- Normal: 6 Wind Charges
- Overpowered: 8 Wind Charges
So, what kit ideas do you have? Whether it's a completely new kit or an update to an existing one, let me know! I'm curious to hear your ideas. In my opinion, a kit shouldn't be game-breaking. For me, that means:
- There is still a real choice between different kits.
- One kit isn't so strong that everyone feels forced to use it.
- The kit provides a different playstyle, rather than simply giving you better gear.
- It remains reasonably balanced across all game modes, including Advanced (coming in the Skywars update).
- The kit is fun and creates opportunities for creative plays without removing counterplay.
I'm looking forward to reading your new and creative kit idea's / updates!
