The current system is that the Sentinel system publicly announcing bans.. which labels the banned user as a cheater. These notifications are displayed in the server, including in lobbies and various other areas, which can be damaging to the users reputation and create a negative environment. To avoid these issues and improve fairness for all players, I strongly suggest implementing a change to the ban system.

Specifically, I propose disabling the public Sentinel announcements and instead implementing a system for secret bans. This modification would greatly assist those who have been wrongly banned, particularly those who may be facing false accusations while playing with friends, ensuring a more equitable and pleasant experience for everyone on the CubeCraft servers. :)

I think that it's good to know when someone is banned so if they were hacking and you recorded it and you didn't know that they were banned then you would make a forum report yet if they have already been announced in chat that they have been banned you wouldn't have to go through that effort of forum reporting. Also anyone can just look up on the appeals website if a player has been banned.

I like this but I have a few suggestions:
- Firstly, maybe there should be a setting (in player settings) that allows you to choose whether your bans would be published publicly or not.
- Secondly, maybe introduce a different setting which (that the normal player toggles) whether they get to see the player ban announcement.
- Finally, maybe they should set it so the announcement is only distributed to the players that have been in the hacker's past 2 games.

Agreed. It isn't necessary, but it is definitely convenient from the point of view of reports.

What if they weren't and it was from a chunk glitch, and their friends thought they were hacking so left them?
If this happens then these said friends weren't actually friends. That's all.

(re: points 1&2) This seems a little unnecessary, and like it would be extremely confusing. Also, it just doesn't feel like the sort of thing where there should be such a setting anyway imo.
(re: point 3) Having an announcement for players in the previous 2 games is actually more than how it currently is (unless something's changed recently?), so I'm not sure I understand the 'only'.

Now, I would like to add that in addition to what's been discussed before, there's another reason that sentinel ban messages are good. They show that sentinel is actually doing anything, which feels encouraging to a lot of people.
I understand the concern about false bans being publicly announced ruining some sort of reputation, but I just don't think that would actually happen in a meaningful way. As briefly mentioned above, if your real friends see a false ban, they'll just ignore it or ask you what actually happened, etc. if anyone else sees it and reacts negatively, then they aren't a friend so it doesn't matter what they think and they probably won't even recognise the username.

While I understand how someone's reputation might be affected by this, the Sentinel ban message is a very effective way for us to demonstrate users that our anticheat is actively working and can detect cheaters sometimes. Furthermore, we always allow people to appeal Sentinel bans, not once, but twice, if via that process that user still remains unbanned, then Sentinel's decision was correct. False bans are a common thing and I am pretty sure many people are understanding that this could happen to anyone, if you then appeal and get unbanned, you should have nothing to worry about.

Like some other ppl were saying, I think it would be good to record the ban msg so u don’t /sr an already banned player and I think they should add a feature to not have ur bans public bcs, however, like every1 was saying, it could falsely ban a laggy person or a person with a chunk glitch and have the msg say they cheated

I understand the concern about public Sentinel ban announcements, but personally, I disagree with removing them. Most of the bans are for actual hackers, and seeing those bans publicly can be reassuring for legit players it shows that the system is working.

If bans will made private, it might make it seem like no action is being taken, and hackers could come and go without others noticing. While false bans do happen sometimes, they’re rare compared to the number of real cheaters. I think the current system helps maintain transparency and trust in the anti-cheat.
