Hello CubeCrafters!! hope everyone is good!
First of all, Thanks to everyone who worked SBMM
Since this system will soon be gradually rolled out across the whole server,I think this is pretty big change and definitely double edged sword that could change a lot aand as a long time bedrock player (Me..
), I'm pretty neutral about SBMM!! So.. I'm not against it but I'm not fully for it in the sametime.
One reason I can see SBMM being good thing is that it could give new players much better experience for suree!
How? Instead of putting them against pros players getting destroyed quickly and thinking "Nahh!! this game is so bad!! I can't even compete" They might just go like "Nope, I'm out" Like hit Alt+F4 and sadly leave Minecraft for ever
With SBMM they cann play against people around their skill lvl this could make the game more competitive and enjoyable for them.
At the same time pros players would have more chances to face players around their own skill lvl, Which can also make games more competitive and enjoyable, Honestly I think that's really good thing.
And this part alone is enough to explain why I like to go with SBMM but there's another side to it!! Why might I not like the idea of SBMM??
A few reasons why I might not like SBMM!! After seeing some ppl on the forums criticizing it, I started thinking about a few suggestions that could hopefully make their experience with the system better.
The first problem, No... ACTUALLY the big problem, I have noticed a lot of people complaining about is getting sent to another region when the system can't find players around their skill lvl and this can lead to much higher ping which doesn't feel fair! Actually soo UNFAIR!! I have tow ideas that might help.
First, The system could widen the search instead, E.g if it can't find someone close to your skill lvl, It could match you with players around half your skill lvl rather than sending you sadly to another region and getting bad ping!!
Second, I'm not sure if it's possible, would be adding bots with or without randoms names to the games they could have different skill lvl like stronger bots for pros players and weaker bots for new or noobs players.
They could be made to play somewhat like real players (Idk how plz don't ask me
) including building and fighting etc... But there should definitely be a limit to how many bots can be added in single game, Cuz nobody wants to play an entire game against bots
! Also the bots shouldn't affect players stats they would just be there to fill the empty spots
And with this no more sending players to regions that aren't theirs! It's crazy idea ik right
Honestly, this is something I wish the Minecraft developers themselves would consider cuzz it could take the game to whole different lvl.
Just imagine creating normal single player world and before pressing Create, You have BOTS SECTION WOW!! Where you can choose how many bots you want to bring with you and customize their skins and names and what they will do.
Once you enter the world you have them with you and by interacting with them you get basic options like "Follow me" "Stay here" "Fight" "Sleep" or "Gather specific item" like wood but only within their area.
They could even build things like mobs trap and a lot stuff like that and basically behaving like real players, If they die they respawn at their bed or the world spawn.
Adding something like this to Minecraft WILL BE CRAZYY! Also make it much easier for servers to use bots and will opening the doors for even more ideas and giving them more ways to use bots in their own minigames!!
Okyy back to reality
! Another problem I can see happening in the future with SBMM, ESPECIALLY for pross players is that they might end up facing pro players in almost every single game they play which could make the game more exhausting than fun for them it's will be like ESPORTS CUPS
.
That's why I'd go back to the idea of widening the skill range Instead of always matching players with someone around the same skill lvl, Maybe proo players could be matched with lower skilled players twice as often as they are matched with only pros players, This way it's more balanced!!
Another problem with SBMM that could affect things in future too and that's parties!!! For e.g, If three new or noobs players party up and one rlyy proo player joins them the pro player would have big advantage when they get into game cuz all players will be noobs.
I don't think this would be big problem though.
Maybe the system could simply take the skill lvl of everyone in the party into account when matchmaking idk!
Anyway, that's pretty much what I think about SBMM, I'm still neutral about it but I rly hope the system keeps improving and that some of these ideas can help make it better for everyone.
At the end of the day, we all just want to enjoy playing CubeCraft
