Torchic is the fire-type starter first introduced in the Generation 3 Pokemon games, Ruby and Sapphire. Its name is a combination of 'torch' and 'chick' and, as its name implies, it is a chick with a fiery colour scheme, and a head ornament resembling a flame.
Torchic will evolve at level sixteen into Combusken, and again at level thirty-six into Blaziken, the latter being the first of many final-stage fire-fighting starters. Blaziken has received 'reignited' attention in the last couple of its years for its new mega evolution, which holds a respectable 630 base stat total. Combine this with a fully evolved Torchic that was distributed via event a few years back that had the ability 'Speed Boost', and Blaziken has seemingly overnight become one of the most viable fully evolved starters ever.
Torchic is widely regarded as one of the cutest of all starter Pokemon, and is in my opinion, the single cutest Pokemon there is. Torchic's shiny form improves upon its already magnificent colour scheme, adopting golden skin and orange feathers and head ornament.
