How not to play tower defence

Discussion in 'Tower Defence' started by Mr_MYU, Apr 15, 2016.

?

What should we do with those people?

  1. The people that do some of those things should get an official warning!

  2. Nah, don't warn.

So I decided to make this post, because I'm almost biting of my fingers. The way people are playing this game is unbelievable....
Here is my top 7 of people that failed playing this game:

Number 7:The bow, WHY?! Just why?! Its slow, does a low amount of damage and the sound!!! O my.... Just don't use this as a weapon.
Number 6:Sword spammers, Guys we are in 1.9, sword spamming doesn't work. Its slow, does a low amount of damage. Don't go swing it around like a knife.
Number 5:100000 archer towers, Why you guys keep doing this? Buy a Turret tower and your good.
Number 4: Potion towers, Just don't place potion towers, they are the expensive version of the mage tower, just don't place them.
Number 3:"smart"acting people, Why? Just why? Its a team game, so play as a team.
Number 2: Ice/Mage towers, I think I have spend more time asking people to remove their 10 Mage towers in a row , than placing my own towers. Its unbelievable that there are so much people place 2 or more Ice/Mage towers next to each other. First of all, its a waste of space, second, placing 1 mage tower next to an other mage tower is useless, because 1 mage tower does a X amount of fire damage. The second Mage tower does nothing at that moment. Same for the Ice towers, placing 1 Ice tower next to an other Ice tower is useless, because 1 Ice tower does a X amount to slowness on a mob. The other Ice tower does nothing at that moment.
Number 1:YOLO placement of towers, we all had that one player in our team that place every tower in the wrong spot. Place your $!@#$ towers next to each other and connect them to the road.

So a tip from me, don't be like those people. They screw up the game for people like me.
Did I missed something in my list, add it in the commands.

Giant are very slow and useless. You could better use is one stack of blaze's, because it flies and it can only be hit by an archer towers and everything what shoot on it. #grasmaai

Actaully I don't play TD that much, but one thing I know it: Giants are OP. They got so much health!

For the ice, mage, poison, and tower misplacement, you can report them under team griefing (after warnings), if I'm correct ( @Macreddin @Foodyling @Tacosbefriends please verify). As for poison, I usually place one and only one at the start of the maze, then no more.

I agree with all of these except 4. The extra DPS is nice if you already have your mage towers up.

We're hesitant to ban people for team griefing for this reason. It's a complicated game. Even one of the owners (won't say which) put a bunch of ice towers next to each other the first time he played.

But they've been told to stop. Besides, they're making the team lose (which is the goal of team griefing). And it's very easy to learn and correct. I mean, if someone says "don't spam ice/mage/poison because their effects don't stack and you're wasting space" and "place towers properly to save space", they have no reason NOT to sell it. And back on the Chunk, I reported numerous people for this offense, and pretty much all of them were accepted.

They might just think you're being a jerk or a know-it-all; Notch knows we have enough of those. There's a very obvious difference between "noob who doesn't know any better" and "master troll who wants to ruin your game."

If the player is just generally clueless, we're not gonna ban them for playing the game. Sorry, but everyone has to learn at some point; no one is perfect the first time they play.

If the player is intentionally screwing you over, saying rude/troll-y things, etc. then yeah, we'll ban 'em.

Perhaps we could implement a vote kick to kick unhelpful teammates?

About Number 4, I think an Archer Tower is better to buy from your coins then a Turret Tower, Why?
First of all, the Turret Tower costs 800 coins for a single tower. And you can get like 2/3 Archer Towers for a single non-upgraded Turret Tower.
Second, the Turret Tower is just in my opinion a slightly faster Archer Tower that takes more space. I think it's way better to place Necromancer Towers on the 5x5 spot on a map.
However, it is indeed not smart do to a row of archer spam because, if your opponent uses Blazes instead of a Giant at Armegeddon, they will most likely throw a speed potion there and skip your main air defence that way.

But it's true about everything else you mentioned ;)

I agree with the health of the giants, but keep in mind that it is extremely slow.
Okay so placing a lot of Ice/Mage towers is conciderd as team griefing when someone is doing it on purpose.

I would really like to see a kicking system for the game, maybe it would be a good idea to put a reason with the kick, incase of trolls.

There is a kick system for Tower Defence :)
When someone in your team is being annoying you just do for example /votekick TheJeroen and then your team can vote with /votekick yes or /votekick no

I know there was one on the Chunk before it was ported over. Wasn't sure if we still had it on CubeCraft. (I just /kick people because staff powers :p)

If there's a vote kick option, then that's great. Pretty soon we'll begin banning minor breaks of the rules like this with a one day ban or so, so for now, the vote kick will have to do. Anyways, let's get this thread back on topic.

The bow does surprisingly a high amount of damage, or at least they did on The Chunk. A full charged bow deals slightly more damage than a full charged diamond sword, and then we have the flame arrow upgrade which is very useful.

Ice towers do stack! You can place them next to other ice towers. Mage towers dont stack. I agree dont place mage next to mage. It doenst work.

Edit: I like archer more than turrets. They are cheap and fast to place. Archer is a bit slower than turret. Use a turret in combo with freeze pots (AOE)., than it will do the ultimate damage. Otherwise i preffer the archer towers in combo with ice towers.

Ice tower does not stack, mobs will be affected by the best upgraded ice tower in range.

Okay, so lets say. 1 Ice tower slowes a mob for 10%. That means, if I believe what you say, if I place down 10 Ice towers, all the mobs would be standing still on the road?

No. Ice towers do stack. Place 5 ice towers and you see they stack. ofc the mobs wont stand still xD
