Get wood pick

I broke my last stone pickax and need to craft a wood one to get cobble so I can get more stone tools. Why isn’t it keeping the pick? I need cobble. When I try to craft it, it consumes the pick. Video proof:

Hi,
Not sure if you mean this or not. But the cobblestone in your inventory is a generator u have to place it down. Then break it with your wood pickaxe and out of the cobblestone generator u get cobblestone. And from there you can craft stone pickaxe. Let me know if you meant this.
HINT: You can only craft a wooden pickaxe with the same wood planks. If you have 3 different type of planks it won't let you make a wooden pickaxe.
