Hello players, I request you guys read the whole post first.
Let me start by saying that it is wrong that cheaters who macro and auto click get away with saying that they are just drag clicking, but this shouldnt punish the players who actually drag click or click high cps due to actually mastering double clicking/drag clicking, me personally I am unable to reach higher than 12 cps on a good day without double clicking(10ms debounce), but because I have mastered how to double click I can double, even triple click on my mouse allowing me to reach insane 23 CPS.
The recent ban on drag clicking and double clicking takes away from the PC experience on CubeCraft. Instead of removing these methods completely, I think a better solution would be to just add a hard CPS cap, 15 CPS is fine and kick anyone who goes over that limit. That way, people can still play the way they enjoy, whilst nobody can abuse super high CPS.
Drag clicking and double clicking aren’t just free advantages to PC players. They take time and practice to learn. You need the right finger placement, pressure, and consistency, which isn’t as simple as pressing left click once and getting 2 clicks out of it. People argue that you need a special mouse to do it, but that’s not really true. Many office mice can double click and even drag click, and if someone chooses to buy a mouse for it, that’s no different than people buying a better keyboard, monitor, or controller. Doing a bit of research before buying gear should be normal in any game, especially one where you want to get better. Modifying your debounce timer too falls along side this since it comes with the mouse itself and so shouldnt be discouraged since it comes with the hardware, this is like saying people with a higher refreshrate monitor are able to see way better, or a bigger monitor is better, obviously this is different to setting up a macro that can just register your clicks multiple times, but thats not what double clicking is and a CPS limit would work agaisnt this anwyay.
On top of that, PC players already have certain advantages over other platforms, like aiming and tracking with a mouse. That’s just how the game works across different devices, and it’s accepted. Taking away drag and double clicking only hurts PC players in order to make the game easier for everyone else. If mobile players are allowed to tap anywhere on their screen, which can also feel unfair, whilst having an option to not do so, then PC players should be able to use the clicking styles available to them.
A lot of players also don’t drag or butterfly click just for CPS. Many do it because it feels more comfortable or fun to use. The higher CPS is just an externality in this case. For example, butterfly clicking is easier on the hands than jitter, and short drags usually sit around 15-20 CPS anyway and are a skill to learn. Banning these methods completely removes that variety and makes PvP feel more limited than it should be. Much of this CPS can be controlled when dragging on butterflying (with double clicking) so a HARD CPS CAP will encourage players to just stay under it which is a good alternative to jsut straight up banning it.
I get that not everyone agrees with this. A lot of the player base is on other platforms, and even some PC players don’t want to use different clicking methods. But it isn’t fair to limit everyone just because some don’t want to try or don’t like it. A CPS cap is a much better middle ground since it prevents extreme cases but still respects the players who put effort into learning these techniques.
CubeCraft team please reconsider this change since a lot of active players will be affected by this change, arguing that double and drag clicking is unfair to other platforms is not fair to PC players since that's just a method to click, and regarding cheaters, a hard CPS cap of 15 and if exceeded kicking them would save everyone a lot of trouble.
I write this to stand up for the experience that is being taken away from us players, please try to understand our perspective of things too before jumping to siding with whichever voice is the loudest.
